The Red Sox dropped their 4th in a row with a 8-5 setback in the series opener against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards Monday afternoon. The Orioles scored 4 runs in the 1st Inning off losing pitcher Sean Newcomb and 4 runs in the 8th Inning against reliever Justin Slaten.  The Red Sox were out hit, 15-8, by the Orioles.

Devers Update: Rafael Devers went 0-for-3 with a pair walks and 3 more strikeouts on Monday. Devers is 0-for-19 with 15 strikeouts over the 1st 5 Games.

Local Kid on the Bump: Sean Newcomb, who was born in Brockton, MA, gave up 4 straight singles to the 1st four Baltimore hitters and ended up allowing 4 runs in the 1st Inning in his Red Sox debut. Newcomb went 4.0 Innings and got 3 Inning Ending Double-Plays over his final 3 Innings.

Struggling with RISP: The Red Sox went 3-for-14 with Runners in Scoring Position and left 7 runners on base in the series opener. Sox are 9-for-55 with RISP and stranded 39 runners on base over the 1st 5 Games. Connor Wong is 0-for-9 with Runners In Scoring Position to open the season.  The Red Sox struck out 13 times in the loss to the Orioles and have struck out 10 or more times in 4 of the 1st 5 games.
