The Red Sox opened up their 6-Game Road Trip with a 2-1, 12-Inning loss to the Kansas City Royals Friday night at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. Both teams got on the board in the 11th Inning. The Red Sox went down 1-2-3 in the Top of the 12th and the Royals ended it with Freddy Fermin walking it off with an RBI Single off Sean Newcomb.

Lot's To Like- Hunter Dobbins was impressive in his start against the Royals in the series opener Friday night. Dobbins worked 6 scoreless innings and ended up with a no-decision with neither team scoring over the 1st 6 Innings. Dobbins allowed 5 Hits, walked no one, and struck out 6. Kyle Isbel reached with a 1-out Triple in the 5th Inning, but Dobbins wiggled out of trouble as Isbel was cut down at the plate in what turned into a 6-2-5-4 Double Play.  Dobbins quality outing ended a streak of 5 straight games where the starting pitcher did not go a full 6 Innings.

#'s of the NIGHT: Trevor Story went 0-for-5 with a strikeout in Friday night's opener. Story is now 7-for-62 with 22 strikeouts over his last 15 Games. Story has 2 RBIs and no extra-base hits over his last 17 Games. The Red Sox are 20-20 thru their 1st 40 Games. The Red Sox fell to 4-10 in 1-Run Games this season. The Sox are now 3-3 in Extra-Inning Games.   The Red Sox hitters did not draw a single walk over 12 innings Friday night and have walked 12 times total over the last 8 Games.

What's On Tap?: The Red Sox continue their weekend series in Kansas City Saturday night. Garrett Crochet opposes Cole Ragans on Saturday in what may be the best pitching match-up of the series.  After the series concludes in Kansas City on Sunday, the Red Sox are off to Detroit for a 3-Game set against the Tigers with the series underway on Monday.  After the 6-game trip, the Red Sox return home for a 10-game homestand against the Braves, Mets and Orioles.
