The Red Sox (55-50) returned home to Fenway for the 1st time since the all-star break and lost the series opener, 5-2, to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night. The loss snapped the Red Sox 7-game home winning streak.  Boston's now 15-4 over their last 19 at Fenway. The Red Sox are now 2-7 thru their 1st 9 games after the break. Shohei Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a walk and 2 strikeouts for LA, ending his streak of 5 straight games with a Home Run.

Bello on the Bump: Brayan Bello allowed 3 earned runs over 5.1 innings in Friday night's series opener and ended up with the loss to drop to 6-5. Bello's streak of 8 consecutive quality starts came to an end. The Dodgers got 1 run in the 2nd and 2 more runs in the 3rd where Bello ended up throwing 40 pitches.  Bello walked 2 and struck out 5. The club is now 8-9 in his 17 starts.

Sox at the Dish: The Red Sox got to within a run with 2 runs in the 3rd inning. Connor Wong led off the inning with a Double, his 1st extra-base hit of the season. The next hitter, Jarren Duran, broke an 0-for-8 at the plate with an RBI Single.  Duran scored from 1st on a Double off the Green Monster from Alex Bregman. The Red Sox managed only 5 hits on the night and had just 2 base runners from the 4th inning thru the end of the game. The Sox went 1-2-3 in 5 different innings against Dodgers pitching. Wilyer Abreu went 0-for-2 at the plate before exiting for a pinch-hitter and he's hitless in his last 11 at-bats. Rob Refsnyder grounded out to 2nd with 2 runners on to end the game.

Kershaw has never faced the Red Sox in his career. He is 29-6 with a 2.30 ERA in 60 career starts in interleague play.  Friday began a stretch of playing 9 of the next 12 at home for the Red Sox. The Sox open up a 3-game series against the Twins at Target Field Monday night in Minneapolis.
