The Red Sox (27-27) split their doubleheader with the Baltimore Orioles Saturday afternoon and night at Fenway Park.  The Sox lost the nightcap, 2-1 and wasted a solid performance from Lucas Giolito on the mound.  The Red Sox are 5-4 on their current homestand that wraps up on Sunday. The Sox are now 6-13 in 1-run games.

Game 1 Recap: Rafael Devers played hero in the opener with a game-winning RBI single in the Bottom of the 10th Inning and the Red Sox won, 6-5.  It's the Red Sox 5th walk-off win of the season and 11th come-back win of the season.  The Red Sox got solo Home Runs from Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu & Abraham Toro. 5 different Red Sox relievers worked a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.

On The Shelf- After undergoing an MRI on Saturday, lex Bregman was placed on the Injured List with a strained right quad.  Bregman suffered the injury in Friday's win against the Orioles.  It's expectetd that he'll miss an extended period of time.  He had a similar injury with the Astros in 2021.

MLB Debut: Marcelo Mayer made his much-anticipated MLB debut in Game 2 of the Doubleheader on Saturday. He went 0-for-4 with 3 strikeouts.  Mayer, 22, was selected in the 1st-round (4th) overall in 2021. Mayer joins Kristian Campbell & Hunter Dobbins as Sox players to make their MLB debut with the big club in 2025.

#'s of the Day: With Hunter Dobbins working 4+ Innings in the 1st Game on Saturday, Red Sox starting pitchers have failed to go 5 Innings in 11 of the last 17 games and in 6 of the last 7 games. Lucas Giolito delivered big-time in the nightcap with 7 scoreless innings.  It's just 3rd time in the last 21 games where a Red Sox starter went 7.0 Innings.

Sox Leading Man: Jarren Duran led off Game 1 of the twin bill with a Home Run. It's 4th Home Run of the season and his 2nd Home Run to start a game in 2025, and 7th leadoff Home Run of his career.

What's On Tap?: The Red Sox conclude their series with the Orioles and their longest homestand of the season Sunday afternoon.  The Orioles have now lost 9 of 10 and 15 of 18.  The Orioles -99 Run Differential is the worst in the American League.  Dean Kremer and Walker Buehler are the scheduled starters for the series finale.  The Red Sox take to the road for 3 in Milwaukee and 3 more in Atlanta.  Monday begins a stretch of playing 9 of 12 away from Fenway.
