The Red Sox (65-52) picked up a 10-2 win in the series opener against the San Diego Padres in front of a sellout of 44,061 at Petco Park Friday night in San Diego. The Sox have won 8 of 9 overall and 3 in a row on the road.

Buehler on the Bump: Walker Buehler tossed 6 scoreless innings in notched his 7th win of the season. Buehler gave up 4 Hits (all Singles), He walked 2 and struck out 4.  Buehler retired the lead-off hitter in all 6 Innings, including Xander Bogaerts 3 times. Buehler is now 7-1 in 13 career starts against the Padres with the win Friday night. The Sox are 12-8 in his 20 starts this season.

Sox at the Dish: Alex Bregman led off the 4th Inning with a Single. It was the first hit of the night allowed by former Sox hurler Nick Pivetta, who then gave up back-to-back walks to Jarren Duran and Trevor Story to load up the bases.  Masa Yoshida got the Sox on the board with a sacrifice fly and 2 hitters later Wilyer Abreu crushed a 2-out, 2-run Home Run to make it 4-0.  It's Abreu's 21st of the season. Connor Wong cleared the bases with a 3-run Double in the 8th.       

Trevor Story went (0-for-3) with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts, ending his 8-game hit streak.  Story still has 12 RBIs over his last 9 games. Masa Yoshida made it 10-2 with a 2-run HR in the 9th.

At-Bat of the Game: Connor Wong made it 8-0 in the 8th with a 3-run Double. It was Wong's first base hit of the season with runners in scoring position, breaking his 0-for-30 skid.
