The Cincinnati Reds let a golden opportunity slip away Monday night at Petco Park, falling to the San Diego Padres after blowing a 3-0 lead. Nick Lodolo gave the Reds everything they could have asked for, tossing five shutout innings and keeping the Padres’ bats quiet. However, the bullpen faltered once again, surrendering the lead and allowing San Diego to claw back into the game. What looked like a statement win on the road quickly unraveled, as the Reds ultimately fell in extra innings, continuing their frustrating trend of late-game collapses.
