The Cincinnati Reds defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 9-1 on Thursday afternoon, breaking the game open after a mid-game rain delay. Leading 2-1 at the time of the stoppage, the Reds were forced to pull starter Andrew Abbott, turning to Graham Ashcraft, who delivered three perfect innings in relief. Taylor Rogers and Luis Mey—who made his MLB debut—each tossed a flawless inning to close out the game, with Mey recording a strikeout in the ninth. Offensively, the Reds surged after the delay, scoring seven unanswered runs, highlighted by Spencer Steer’s solo homer in the sixth. Jose Trevino also went deep in the second, driving in the Reds' first two runs.
