Today we have a very special guest as we move into Valentine’s Day next week and sex is top of mind for many! Éva Goicochea is the founder of Maude ,the only modern intimacy company that is solely focused on sexual wellness for all people.

Through a holistic approach to intimacy, maude creates body-safe and mood-setting essentials for before, during, and after sex. Since its launch in April 2018, maude has been featured in 1200+ publications including The New York Times, Vogue, and Vanity Fair, and was heralded as “redefining the sex essentials industry for modern consumers" by Forbes. To further their mission of making sexual wellness accessible for all people, maude works closely with Peer Health Exchange, Advocates for Youth, and SIECUS (Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States).

Éva herself spent her early career as a legislative aide in healthcare then over 10 years in ecommerce, social media, and brand strategy working with Squarespace, adidas, and on the early team at Everlane. As a sixth-generation New Mexican, Éva's passion for sexual health came from the disparity she saw first-hand — her home state is 48th worst in the US for condom usage and struggles with access to healthcare. Converging her passion for healthcare and brand, she launched maude.

To-date, she’s one of only 15 Latinx women to raise over $7 million in VC funding. She has also brought on actress Dakota Johnson as co-Creative Director and sits on the board of Peer Health Exchange.

Our conversation with Eva today is about moving the themes of intimacy and sexual health away from larger, more corporate approaches and into something more thoughtful and nuanced. We discuss the difficulties of being a female founder, raising capital and building a team with purpose. We also discuss the importance of starting businesses that have a deeper impact on the world in a positive way, and of course a bit on sex itself and the evolution of sexual health at a  time when so many reproductive  rights are being taken away from us.
