On today's REX Daily Podcast, Dom talks with Findex Partner Craig Macalister about urging Fonterra shareholders to consider tax implications before spending the capital return, following the divestment of Mainland Group to Lactalis. They discuss why he's concerned there's been virtually no discussion referencing the structure of the shareholder ownership and the implications of using the funds for things other than reinvesting into the farm business, and why taking the funds out of the company without tax implications is not likely to be possible... And he talks with Jaz Mathisen, the station cook for Awakino station, about her new book, 'A Year at Awakino Station: home cooking and seasonal tales from a historic North Otago homestead', the impetus for writing the book and the history of the property.
