Around age 40, Shawn and his wife decided that they were well-suited to adopt other biracial babies. Through the adoption process, Shawn discovered clues that helped him locate and reunite with his biological family.
Although Shawn's author name for his book "Born Without A Race" is Dr Michael Bauer, he wishes to be addressed as Shawn during this interview for personal reasons.
