Pre-Loved Podcast is a weekly vintage fashion interview show, with guests you’ll want to go thrifting with! For more Pre-Loved Podcast, subscribe to our Patreon!
Today’s episode is with Rosie Carroll, founder for Nifty – a consignment clothing store and flea market in Christchurch, New Zealand. Rosie first started Nifty in 2018 when she was looking for a place to sell curated pre-loved clothing. It was a time when fast fashion giants were popping up around the city, and she wanted to sell pre-loved clothing in an effort to combat the fast fashion culture that was gaining popularity around her.
The flea market has been hosting second hand clothing sellers and local makers ever since.
After four years of running the markets regularly, and bouncing around different venues in the city, she felt it was time to leave her full-time office job to open a brick and mortar space.
Last October she leased a space, convinced the owner of the building to paint it bubblegum pink, and is now proud to call the big pink building a destination for vintage clothing lovers, running a consignment clothing store as well as the flea markets out of the big pink building.
And we get to hear the whole story on today’s show, so let’s just dive right in!
