It is important women understand what decentering men truly means and no it doesn’t mean hate all men. Sexually, emotionally, mentally and spiritually get rid of the idea men are the center and your life has to revolved around them. Your conversations shouldn’t be revolved all around men. Having a period of deep alone time where you sexually, emotionally, mentally and spiritually relearn yourself is pivotal. Buy sex toys, travel, connect with the women around you and find hobbies. Growing up I hated my short 4c hair and stepping into vulnerability was so hard for me. Constantly hearing insults towards my hair sent me into a deep depression and so much so I never thought I would ever find freedom, liberation and deep self-love with my hair. Weaves, wigs and trying to upkeep societal standards is exhausting and as black women we are conditioned to constantly perform.
