In this week's episode Lauren discusses How to Get Your Clients to Take You More Seriously.

1. Have a Professional/Online Booking System. (This system needs to send out confirmations and reminders).
2. You need to be collecting Booking Fees and/or Card Details. (Clear instructions around cancellations and no-shows will make your Clients respect your time more than they perhaps would otherwise).
3. You need to be able to take Electronic Payments, both online and in-Salon. (Have a proper POS area).
4. You need to have a professional looking Salon. (It makes asking for the Sale a much smoother process).
5. You need to have your Treatment Area presented to highest possible standards.
6. Have a Uniform!
7. Run on time. (As much as possible, avoid moving your Clients around).
8. Build a website. And get a proper domain name (a .com or .com.au) and an @yourdomain email address.
9. Formulate a Style Guide for the look of your Socials and Website, and a Content Guide for the types of Content pieces that turn up on your Socials. (Keep your Business accounts professional and Salon-focussed).
10. Maintain boundaries with Clients that become Friends. (All Salon communication needs to kept in once place for the benefit of all Staff and all Clients).

1. Work Harder!
2. Perform an honest gut-check on the Services you provide, the Clients you're serving, the Quality of your Work, and the Content you're creating to promote your work.
3. Decide what you want your Life to look like in 6, 12, 24 months from now, and make the necessary changes in your Business to align with that vision.
4. Stop doing Services that don't light you up. Focus on the types of feelings you want help your Client(s) achieve, and do more of the work that helps you do that.
5. Seek out a Mentor, or a Coach, or a Trusted Advisor, to help you refine your offerings, and reignite your passion for your Business.

The 4 Stages of Competence.

1. Unconscious Incompetence - you don't know that you don't know how to do something.
2. Conscious Incompetence - you know that you don't know how to do something.
3. Conscious Competence - you're aware of how to do something, but you're still working on mastering the skill or practice.
4. Unconscious Competence - you know something so well that you don't even need to think about how to do it.

In this week's episode Lauren discusses why First Impressions Matter so much in your service-based business.

Keep top-of-mind while listening to this episode that you're in the Business of Selling Beauty.

1. Have a Beautiful Uniform. Flattering, tidy, and well-cared-for uniforms create a sense of professionalism, and as a bonus, a great uniform is a highly effective visual branding asset (online and off).
2. Have a Personal Presentation Policy. Set the standard in your Salon around what's expected regarding Lashes, Brows, Hair, Makeup, Jewellery, Hygiene, Shoes, Perfume, etc. and document it.
3. Salon Cleanliness. The aroma of your Salon needs to pleasant, and consistent. There needs to be zero public facing clutter (and ideally no clutter anywhere in your Salon). Both yourself and your Team needs be keeping surfaces, glass, tools and supplies clean, tidy and well presented at all times. (And don't forget about your waiting area).
4. Workstation Cleanliness. A clean and tidy workstation is paramount to building Trust with your Client(s). Systemise cleaning-as-you-go into your Policies and Procedures.
5. Clean (scent-free) Hands. You don't want any smell(s) on your hands, and your hands have to be as clean as humanly possible at all times.
6. A Great Looking P.O.S Area. Your Point of Sale (P.O.S) needs to clean, uncluttered, and optimised for taking payment, booking/rebooking, and selling products to your Client(s).
