Why should Bangladeshi Australians join the mainstream politics in Australia? Engineer Mr Humayer Chowdhury Rana is the Convenor of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Australia. He spoke to SBS Bangla and said that the Bangladeshi community in Australia is a little bit different from the other Bangladeshi communities in the world.

অস্ট্রেলিয়ান ক্যাপিটাল টেরিটোরিতে সম্প্রতি বিনোদনের জন্য গাঁজার ব্যক্তিগত ব্যবহার বৈধতা পেয়েছে। ১৮ বছরের বেশি বয়সী ব্যক্তিরা সর্বোচ্চ ৫০ গ্রাম গাঁজা সঙ্গে রাখতে পারবেন। একই উদ্দেশ্যে বাড়িতে দুটি গাঁজা গাছ রাখারও অনুমতি দেওয়া হয়েছে। হেলথ অ্যান্ড ওয়েলফেয়ার ওয়ার্কার ড. শম্পা বড়ুয়া এ নিয়ে এসবিএস বাংলার সঙ্গে।

The number of second-year Working Holiday Maker visas granted in Australia has increased by 20 per cent over the past year. The Federal Government is actively pursuing reciprocal visa agreements with 13 countries, in the hope, it will attract even more workers.

- অস্ট্রেলিয়ায় দ্বিতীয় বছরের জন্য ওয়ার্কিং হলিডে মেকার ভিসা অনুমোদনের সংখ্যা গত বছরের তুলনায় ২০ শতাংশ বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে। ফেডারাল সরকার সক্রিয়ভাবে চেষ্টা করছে ১৩টি দেশের সঙ্গে পারস্পরিক ভিসা-চুক্তির জন্য। তারা আশা করছে এর ফলে কর্মীরা আরও বেশি আকৃষ্ট হবে।

নিউ সাউথ ওয়েলসে বসবাসকারী বাংলাদেশীদের দীর্ঘদিনের দাবি মেটাতে এবার সিডনিতে স্থায়ীভাবে শুরু হচ্ছে বাংলাদেশ কনসুলেটের কার্যক্রম। ২ অক্টোবর অনাড়ম্বর আনুষ্ঠানিকতার মধ্য দিয়ে এর যাত্রা শুরু হবে। কনসাল জেনারেল খন্দকার মাসুদুল আলম কথা বলেছেন এসবিএস বাংলার সঙ্গে।

Australia is an attractive country for students from all over the world to study. In addition to improved education and accommodation, part-time work is also available in Australia. So, like many other countries, Australia has become a destination for many Bangladeshi students.
