Wednesday in Florence, Tony ‘Der Panzerwagen’ Martin (make sure you get that Hogan’s Heroes-Colonel Klink intonation happening when saying ‘Paan-zer-var-gen’, ya?), true to form, steamrolled his adversaries en route to a third individual time trial world title.

Is the laconic German, who lets his legs do 99.99% of the talking (in cycling, it’d be a bit of a worry if it was anything other than that) the greatest time triallist of all time, asks the host of this week’s Cycling Central podcast, Alexander Hinds?

Each of his cohorts, Phil Gomes, Kath Bicknell and Anthony Tan, has their say, even if Tanny’s opinion is the one that counts – or so he likes to think, anyway…
