The 13th round of Syria peace talks in Kazakhstan’s capital Nur-Sultan, formerly known as Astana concluded on August 2 with a decision to step up joint efforts to prevent civilian casualties in Idlib.

On the second day of the meeting, the parties held bilateral and trilateral meetings to agree on the final declaration.

The declaration was read out at the main session attended by the representatives of Turkey, Russia, Iran, the Syrian regime and the opposition by Kazakhstan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vasilenko.

Australia’s Yazidis commemorate five years since Islamic State (IS) genocide in Sinjar.  The Yazidi community in Toowoomba, Wagga Wagga, Armidale and Coffs Harbour came together on Saturday to remember five years' since members of their family and friends were separated, killed and raped by IS.We spoke to Nihad Barakat and Salim Hussein in Toowoomba, Khalaf Bari in Armidale, siblings Soryas and Rivas in Wagga Wagga, Sami Alhababy in Coffs Harbour and Wards Hussein (Coffs Harbour) who is studying at University of Newcastle.They all expressed their feelings towards Australia and it’s generosity by accepting Yazidis but they say Australia needs to bring more Yazidis and mostly to reunite families who are already here in Australia.   - Roja Şemiyê 3/8 civaka Êzîdî li bajarokên Australya li hev kom bûn û roja fermana Şingalê bi bîr anîn.Li Toowoomba, Wagga Wagga, Armidale û Coffs Harbour civaka Êzîdî ew roja “reş” bi bîr anî, roja ku bi hezaran jin, zarok û peya bi destê Daiş dîl hatin girtin û tiştê nemayî bi serê wan hat kirin. According to the latest report by Free Yezidi Foundation, almost 3,000 Yezidis remain unaccounted for, 80 mass graves have been unearthed, over 300,000 Yezidis are internally displaces, while a hundred thousand have migrated.
