Season finale - Lwando Xaso, Attorney & founder: Including Society

Lwando Xaso obtained her law degree from the University of Johannesburg whereafter she completed her articles and practiced at Norton Rose Fulbright. She then pursued a Masters in constitutional and administrative law at the University of Cape Town where she also worked as a researcher.
In 2011 Lwando had the privilege of clerking at the Constitutional Court for Justice Edward Cameron and in the same year contributed to the book “One Law One Nation” - a book on the history of the South African Constitution. Lwando frequently writes on topics of constitutional law, history and culture for the Daily Maverick and various other publications.
In 2012 Lwando was awarded the Franklin Thomas Fellowship by the Constitutional Court Trust to study at the University of Notre Dam in Indiana USA - she graduated in 2013 magna cum laude and received an LLM in international law.
Lwando then worked as a senior researcher for the Public Service Remuneration Review Committee tasked with the transformation of the public service and was also a researcher to former Chief Justice Sandile Ncgobo. She currently works with the Constitutional Hill Trust focusing primarily on projects such as the museum of the Constitution which is under development. In addition, she is a trustee of the Constitutional Court Trust and the founder of Including Society which is a consultancy established to explore issues around cultural justice, belonging and inclusion. Lwando is also the author of “Made in South Africa: A Black Woman’s Stories of Rage, Resistance and Progress”.
