June 01, 2020Do not seek motivation. Reignite desire. (the reason I believe motivation to be a trap)What is motivation? Why do we feel like we need it in order to achieve what we want in life and ultimately feel fulfilled? The answer (I believe) is that we don't need motivation at all, at least not from anything other than ourselves. I always talk about how momentum is the most powerful force in the universe and now I believe desire to be the catalyst for positive momentum in your life. Reignite the desire within you and understand how, so you can replicate it. In this episode I cover what makes me happy, and how by proactively acting upon it, I have been able to turn around days that I would have previously written off as "a waste." Desire is the catalyst for motivation. Happiness is the byproduct. LIVELIFECOMPLEX....more13minPlay

May 23, 2020Reconnect with who you are by disconnecting from what the world wants you to be - a reflection on how easy it is to become lostSometimes I can fall into a rut where I feel unmotivated, low energy and start looking at the world through a negative and pessimistic lens, often questioning the very basis of what usually gets me excited and passionate about living life. I have been in that rut for the past week or so, and it is only today that I have been feeling more myself. I took this opportunity to reflect (perfect timing for Friday's episode) and really dive deep into what it is that triggers this cascade of negativity, and what I can do to reverse it. The main lesson is: be proactive in life. If you ever find yourself being passive or even worse; reactive, then check yourself and really reflect on what it is that you want out of this life and put into question your daily actions that should be furthering you towards it. In this episode I go into what got me feeling this way and the steps I am taking to get out of it, and ofc what would an episode be without a few classic livelifecomplex rants sprinkled in. At the end of the day no amount of material gain will bring lasting satisfaction to our lives and this is truly the root cause of this pseudo-depression that both I and others periodically experience: the realization that the majority of our time is spent on meaningless tasks is a hard truth to face. However, if you can not only face it but understand that correcting this is exactly where you need to start directing your energy towards - if you are searching for some sort of fulfillment in this life - then you already have a better start than most....more17minPlay
May 21, 2020When doing less is doing more (rest, recovery, and a proper pre-season for injury prevention)It can be hard to wrap your mind around the fact that sometimes not training can be more beneficial than training. Sometimes. The only danger with recognizing this is that it can be used as an excuse to not put in the work when you least feel like it. There's a difference between being lazy and being fatigued/needing to rest and recover, it just takes a healthy amount of self-awareness to see when is which. In this episode I not only rant about the importance of recovery for injury prevention but the importance of a good pre-season for the same reasons. Sleep took over the episode as the main focus as it is most likely to be the one thing that most everyone struggles with and the one thing I myself have never been able to 100% conquer....more22minPlay
