Nobody gets through life as a human being unscathed or without being traumatized in some way. We all have baggage, and we all have things we’re holding on to. In this episode, I give you some journaling prompts to help you face the pain and come to terms with the things you’ve been through. I want to help you process some of your emotions and honor your past so that you don’t look back in however many years’ time and wish you’d let go. It’s all about holding space for your feelings, having compassion for your past self and creating a life that truly feels good.
TRIGGER WARNING: In this episode, I ask you to reflect on something in your past and to process it in a different way. Please be aware that it could be triggering for you. This episode is all about sharing space with you. It has not been recorded for someone who’s really suffering. If you’re listening to this episode and have been through a traumatic experience that you’re struggling to deal with, please go and seek help from a medical professional.

I recorded this episode in support of all those of you who are struggling on the inside while appearing fine on the outside.

Some of the hardest trials we have to overcome as mental health warriors relate to negative assumptions, whether they come in the form of our own self-limiting beliefs, from an external source, or from us worrying about what other people think. There is often a preconception that if you struggle with your mental health, then maybe, you’re not as strong or as capable as everyone else.
I used to believe this about myself. I used to allow those beliefs and assumptions, from both myself and others, to determine my self-image. That is, until I started therapy and began hearing my own voice again. What I learned instead is that we mental health warriors are capable of handling, of holding, of experiencing and withstanding, and of falling down and getting back up again. In time, with hope and support, we can walk towards healing and can even expose ourselves to the vulnerability of telling our own stories.
If that isn’t strength, I don’t know what is.
In this episode, I share some of the negative beliefs and assumptions I’ve faced over the past few years. I talk about how I internalized some of the things I was told, by myself and others, and how I see them now.
This is for all the mental health warriors out there who are dealing with these self-limiting beliefs, fears and outside perspectives about what you are capable of. My message to you? You are so much stronger than you know, even if you don’t believe it yet. You are capable of overcoming anything, so don’t let anyone, yourself included, tell you otherwise.

I really hope this episode encourages you to get curious and start thinking about things differently. But more importantly, I hope it resonates with some of you so you are kinder to yourselves.
I feel so grateful to have Natalie Cooper as my first ever guest on the podcast. She’s been a true guiding light for me and is someone I reached out to very early on in my podcast journey.
Natalie hosts her own podcast, Mind Your Own Life, which is all about aligned living. After being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and then Multiple Sclerosis, Natalie embarked on a path to self-healing that has brought her to where she is today, reinforcing her belief in the power of mindfulness. She practices Reiki, specializes in meditation, offers doula services and coaches self-healing as part of her multi-pronged approach.
In this episode, we talk about the connection between the mind and the body, touching on everything from meditation and yoga to Reiki and acupuncture. One of the recurring themes of our conversation is being an active participant in the healing process, which I think is so relevant nowadays, both to us as individuals and to society as a whole.
In particular, Natalie shares her own leap of faith. She is beautifully open and honest about how she went in search of healing through diets, mindset, meditation and restorative yoga to help her get in tune with her body.
Natalie’s story is so inspiring, and I loved discussing spirituality, meditation and healing techniques with her in more depth. I hope you’ll find our conversation full of light, encouragement and new ideas.

Tackling political pain can be difficult, and it isn’t something we often talk about. But right now, so many of us are experiencing it. If you’re anything like me, chances are you’re feeling what I like to call a “political or emotional hangover.” We are exhausted.
In the current climate, polarized views are resulting in animosity, anger and frustration, which is having a huge impact on our mental well-being. Post-election headlines, election results, something in the news or even just engaging in political conversation can be really painful. This is because, when someone’s attacking our values, we feel like our way of life is being threatened or undermined. As a gay female immigrant in an interracial relationship, I’ve been hearing from so many of you about how you’re feeling unsafe in your bodies, your homes and your countries.
And if there’s one thing I’ve learnt about mental health, it’s that you have to take care of yourself before you can join any call to action.
In this episode, I give you a four-step self-care plan to help start to heal your political pain. I share why taking care of yourself first and processing your emotions is so important to help you move forward in a productive way.
If you feel ready to tackle your political pain, find your blanket, put some warm socks on, and get hygge with me (I explain all in the episode)!
