第2课

1. I wait for the train on the platform. 我在站台上等火车/地铁/城铁。
火车和地铁都可以说 train。 轨道交通工具有地铁、城铁、城际列车、火车等等，大家可能会觉得地铁和火车差别很大，在国外很多国家，市内的地铁和城际交通、火车是连在一起，界限没有那么分明，所以大家请注意，在本课文中，我会用 train 表示所有这些轨道交通。
可能大家会问，这么多意思会不会混淆？到底是等火车还是等地铁？因为说话的时候都有语境（上下文），所以实际运用过程中是不太会混的。
说回到地铁/地下铁，可以说 subway 或 metro，每个城市地铁的叫法可能都不一样，在中国很多城市的地铁叫 metro，美国是说 subway，欧洲大陆统一说 Metro，英国用 tube 或 underground。
不过，无论我们要搭乘的是 subway 或 metro，“上车（地铁）”都是说 get on the train，“下车（地铁）”是 get off the train。
如果就是说“等地铁”，可以说 I wait for the subway. / I wait for the metro.

2. I run to catch the train. 我跑着赶火车/地铁/城铁。
catch 有很多义项，这里是“（及时）赶上，没错过”的意思。
run 也可以用 dash“冲”或 sprint“向……冲刺”来代替，表示“奔向列车”的状态。
“我赶往车站”是 I hurry to the station.
“我直奔车站”则是 I made a beeline for the station.  make a beeline for 径直去向……，走直道（不走弯路）去……。

3. Oh, no. I'll miss the train. 啊，糟了，我要赶不上地铁/火车了。
miss 是“错过”，miss  the train 是“没赶上火车”。
也可以说  miss the bus 没赶上公交车。
“赶不上火车”还有其他说法，比如 I'll be late for the train. / I won't get to the train on time.
“向车站奔跑” make a dash for the station
几乎到了！ Almost there!
