第4课

1. My kids are watching TV when I get home. 我回家时，孩子们在看电视。
一个孩子是 a child，复数是 children；口语中会常用 kid(s)。
“看”这个动词有 see，look，watch。
“注意地看”是用 watch，比如 I watch TV. 请注意，这句话里TV的前面不用冠词 a 或者 the。
如果说 see the TV，意思是“我看见电视机”。
look at the TV 则是“查看电视机内的零件”的意思。

2. Oh, no. The kids are completely glued to the TV. 噢，真糟糕。孩子们又在全神贯注地看电视。
completely 是副词“完全”，glue 这里是动词“目不转睛地盯着……”，be glued to the TV “全神贯注地看电视”，也可能是 be glued to the cell phone “全神贯注地看手机”。
glue 还可以作名词“胶”“胶水”“胶棒”。
“和孩子打招呼”say hello to the kids，有可能“他们只是回个头，但对我连个招呼都没有。” They turned around, but they didn't even say hi to me.

3. The children are doing their homework at the dining room. 孩子们在餐桌上写作业。
在美国，孩子的房间中不太放做功课的桌子，一般是在餐厅桌子上做功课。
“餐桌”是 dining-table。
大人的书房则称为 study。

4. Dad is sleeping on the couch. 爸爸在长椅上睡觉。
couch 是指“长椅”，也可以说 sofa “沙发”，可是，sofa 常指“有扶手，有靠背的长椅”。
