第4课

1. I call up a client. 我打电话给客户。
call up 是“打电话（给人）”，call 是“打电话”，和 make a phone call，telephone 的意思是一样的。“我打了电话到她的办公室。”可以说 I called her office. 或 I made a phone call to her office. 或 I telephoned her office.
“我接电话。”是 I answer (reach for / pick up) the phone.

2. I make an appointment. 我安排约会。
appointment 一般是指和工作有关的“约会，预约”，对象是客户、医生、同事等等。男女朋友之间的“约会”是 date。
安排约会的动词 make 可以用 set up 或 arrange 代替。
“有（约会）”是用 have，比如说 I have an appointment with a client at two o'clock this afternoon. 我今天下午两点要和客户见面。
“取消（约会）”是 cancel 或 call off，比如说 I canceled (called off) my appointment to see the doctor. 我取消了看医生的预约——>我取消了挂号。

3. The office clock is ten minutes fast. 公司的时钟快了十分钟。
“（钟表）走得快”是 fast，“慢”是用 slow。
“比预定早十分钟”是 ten minutes ahead of schedule，“慢”的时候就说 ten minutes behind schedule。
如果是“比约定的时间早”是用 early，“晚”是用 late。
