第7课

1. I set the table. 我在餐桌上摆好餐具。
set the table 是常用搭配，表示“摆桌子”。
“我铺桌布。”是 I spread the tablecloth. spread 是“铺开，展开”，第一章第1课学过 I spread the bedding. 我铺床。
盘子、碗等瓷器都是 china，刀叉之类的银餐具是 silverware，silver 是“银”，ware 是“器具”“制品”。
“筷子”是 chopsticks。
“碗”是 bowl。
“（平的，浅的）盘子”是 plate，“（深一些的）盘子（盛有汤汁的菜）” 是 dish。此外，dish 的使用范围比较广，可以做盘子的统称，还可以指所有餐具，“洗碗”就是 do the dishes，不光是洗盘子，就像中文“洗碗”也不光是碗…… dish 还可以指“（一道）菜，菜肴”。

2. I clear the table. 我收拾餐桌。
clear 是“收拾”，也可以说  I clear the dishes off the table. 我收拾桌上的餐具。
我擦餐桌。 I wipe the table.
如果说 I clean my plate. 是指“我把我盘子里的菜吃得干干净净。”

3. I dry the dishes. 我擦干餐具。
dry 是“擦干”“弄干”。
“擦干”餐具之前要“洗”，“洗碗”除了第一句说的 do the dishes，也可以说 wash the dishes。
“洗洁精”是 detergent。
