They lost everything that defined them. Except each other.

Gerard Holovar, Captain of the Temple Police, was only trying to do the right thing when he spared the life of a pirate. He gambled. And he lost.

Now, mired in grief, he stumbles through days of slave labor, mourning his loved ones and trying to understand where he went wrong. His life as a prince and Captain of Police becomes a hazy memory. When Gerard's luck finally changes, he emerges from the slave deck of a ship--free, but numb and scarred. He plans to leave Wefrivain, believing that everything he knew and loved is dead.

Gerard may have let go of his past, but his past hasn't quite let go of him. While struggling to survive as an escaped slave in the wilderness of the Lawless Lands, Gerard finds a friend in even more desperate straits--a friend who betrayed him, a friend he thought was dead. Gerard realizes that, while he could not save everyone, he may be able to save one person. And perhaps here, in the ashes of their lives, there may still be time for second chances.

Once co-hosts of a minimally popular student radio show in the early 2010s, old friends Rob and Olly are making a vain attempt to recapture that former glory – and perhaps re-forge their friendship - by starting a podcast book club, which you are all welcome to join.

This is BIG RUSSIANS, where the only books on the agenda are the epics of Russian literature, one painstaking chapter at a time.

Their first foray sees them grapple with Boris Pasternak's 1957 novel, Doctor Zhivago.

Join them in reading this epic romance (and in their mad scramble to google facts about Russian history).

İlk Romanım: Babam hediye defter getirdi, her gün biraz yazdım, roman oldu. İlk romanım. Adım Sevin.
120 Filmde Seyriâlem: Altına Hücum’dan Full Metal Jacket’a, Metropolis’ten Smoke’a, Bisiklet Hırsızları’ndan Piyano’ya...
Çiçek Dürbünü: Adalar'dan San Francisco'ya, Eric Clapton'dan Miles Davis'e, "kediler"den "Karakartal"a, Cyrano de Bergerac'tan Fellini'ye, Paul Auster'dan Francis Bacon'a, Woody Allen'dan İstanbul emlakçılarına, Tetris'ten Doom I'e...

Novel and Nosh

Who killed the man in the hansom cab? Who is Sal Rawlins? What fate awaits Madge and Brian? Dive into a world of murder and family secrets in this captivating Australian mystery. Fergus Humes novel, first published in 1886, quickly became a sensation, finding its way into readers hands in England and the United States. Over a century later, Geoffrey Haines noted that The Mystery of a Hansom Cab did more than any other book to portray Melbourne in the late 1880s (in A History of Victoria, 2006). This timeless classic continues to enthrall audiences, whether in print, on air, or on screen. (Summary by Lynette Caulkins) **Note** The preface reveals the identity of the culprit, which could spoil the suspense for some listeners. To maintain the element of surprise, consider skipping the preface or saving it for after the story. This show includes AI-generated content.

Zarah the Cruel

A doctor, an architect, an engineer, and a geologist step into a space car. In their new invention, they set off on an expedition to Mercury, planning to visit Venus on the return voyage. On Mercury they find a strange city eerily abandoned. Sculptures of giant figures alarm them. In a building they discover a machine. The engineer gets it running, and blaring out of the machine a thundering voice speaking Mercurian begins to sound in a way that conveys to them that it is telling a story. After an enormous effort the men translate the audio book. Here is the story translated from the Mercurian’s recording explaining what happened to him, and the story of the space travelers of what happened next. (Summary by A. Gramour) This show includes AI-generated content.
