  • 68 – The sail by Mikhail Lermontov

    Read the text with translation:

Белеет парус одинокий В тумане моря голубом!.. Что ищет он в стране далёкой? Что кинул он в краю родном?... Играют волны — ветер свищет, И мачта гнётся и скрипит... Увы! Он счастия не ищет И не от счастия бежит! Под ним струя светлей лазури, Над ним луч солнца золотой... А он, мятежный, просит бури, Как будто в бурях есть покой!

  • 67 – Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, my dear friends!

    Text:

Well, hello again everyone! Today it is December 31. The last day of the year. For all Russians it's a very important holiday. I would say the main holiday. All relatives and friends gather together at a big table and celebrate the New Year. Also we summarize the results of the passing year of 2017. For me it's been a very difficult year. There were a lot of bad things. For example, my mother is very sick. And there were problems at work. But nevertheless, I hope that the next year, 2018, will be much better. Also I want to say thank you to all of you. Thank you for listening to me this year, watching my videos, writing touching emails to me. I truly appreciate it. And each listener of mine, each viewer, each student is very important to me. Thank you very much! And finally I want to wish you big happiness in the next year. That kind of happiness that would fill each day only with joy. Even if something bad happens, you would be able to accept it without gloom. It's very important to keep optimism inside, no matter what happens. I wish you happiness, good health and of course love, I wish only dear and caring people to surround you. I guess, that's it. Happy New Year, dear friends!

  • 66 – It's my birthday

    Text in Russian:

Когда я была маленькая, я очень любила свой день рождения. Всегда было так весело! Сейчас для меня это обычный день. Как правило, я приглашаю друзей, и мы идём в кафе. Интересно, что в России именинник платит за всех. Что касается подарков, то мне обычно дарят деньги, духи или косметику.

    Text in English:

When I was little, I enjoyed my birthday very much. It was always so much fun! Now it's just an ordinary day for me. Usually, I invite friends and we go to the cafe. It's interesting that in Russia a birthday person pays for everyone who attends. As for gifts, people usually give me money, perfumes or makeup.

  • 65 – Propaganda in Russia

Here is the text I'm reading:

    Пропаганда в России

Во-первых, что такое пропаганда? Сегодня многие путают пропаганду с политикой и культом личности. На самом деле пропаганда – это подача необъективной информации для влияния на общественное мнение.

В России сегодня пропаганда играет важнейшую роль. Ежегодно правительство тратит миллионы долларов на поддержку средств массовой информации (СМИ).

    Translation

First, what is propaganda? Many people confuse propaganda with politics and the cult of personality. In fact propaganda is a presentation of the not objective information to influence the public opinion.

In today's Russia propaganda plays a very important role. Every year the government spends millions of dollars to support the news media.

    Translation:

    – Let's talk about Germany? Russian stereotypes about Germans, about Germany. – First, we imagine that Germans constantly drink beer… – Beer, yes. Well, at least it's a country where you come to a restaurant and order beer – Well, considering the quality of their beer, actually it's a sin not to drink it, I understand them. – Great beer there, yes, super beer! – Then German pedantry, I mean that there are anecdotes in Russia (I don't know about other countries) about the ability, or not ability, their desire to be accurate, to make everything work on the maximum level, everything to… – Oh, yes… – Everything to be accurate, in time and so on. And there are legends about German quality. For example, cars, for example… well actually everything. When you say «from Germany», you immediately have the perception of the good quality. – Yes, it's the first association, means the high quality stuff.

  • 60 – Tourism in Russia

    Today's text and translation:

    Translation:

Every year millions of tourists from all over the world come to Russia. The most favourite places for foreigners are two grand capitals, Moscow and St. Petersburg. Also tourists often visit towns of the Golden Ring (Vladimir, Suzdal, Aleksandrov, Sergiev Posad and others). The Golden Ring is a great opportunity to get acquainted with life of the unhurried and calm Russian province. And if you dream to see wonderful Russian nature, go to Siberia or Karelia.

Do you know this crazy Russian tsar? Let's talk about him today!

Иван Грозный – одна из самых противоречивых фигур в российской истории. Он правил в середине шестнадцатого века. С одной стороны, это был крайне жестокий и импульсивный человек.
