Welcome to the Smash the system podcast. I’m your host, Nino Prodan. And I want to ask you, why is it that you can’t have everybody, as your customer as your client? You know, this is something I wish somebody asked me when I first started coaching because when I, when I first started coaching, somebody asked me, who’s it that you see as your client? What do they need? And I said, Hey, you know what, I think everybody needs coaching. I think everybody could do with a little more growth, do with a little more knowledge on how to take better care of themselves, how to get more energy, how to get more focus, how to sort out their day, so they have more time for what they want in life, how to achieve their goals, how to live their dreams, everybody wants that. And I said, You know what, everybody is my target customer. Everybody’s my dream client because I see everybody wanting to grow and advance in their life. So I said, I’ll talk Hey, everybody. So what did I learn? I learned that if you’re talking to everybody you’re talking to nobody. I grew up in an era where ads targeted everybody in mass. Yeah, some of them spoke to people individually, but everything was on TV. So it was just the generic communication form. It was ads, generically talking to people in newspapers and magazines. There’s a little bit of customization back then. Things were appropriately placed in the right magazines or during the right TV shows. But we never felt like somebody was talking to us directly. Well, that mindset has to be changed because people are way more sophisticated these days. They want to be addressed one to one. They want connection with you. So if you really want to connect with them, you have to know who it is you’re talking to. And if you’re not specific about which points you’re talking about, Instead of talking to all your customers trying to talk to everybody at once, you’ll talk to nobody because nobody will listen. You have to be specific these days. If you don’t do this early on in your business, you’re not going to be able to succeed. You’ll either learn to do it, or you’re going to fail. The worst case scenario is that you kind of sputter along, attracting the wrong clients that suck all the energy out of you, and then you hate what you do. And then you quit. So you want to start off the right way, start off with your ideal customer start off with knowing who you’re talking to. So the way to do this is to create an avatar for who you’re talking to think about their, their age, gender, their income, their geographical location, but that’s just the beginning. You want to create messages that are super targeted. So what you really want to do is find out the interests of the people that you’re targeting. Find out where they’re hanging out. Online find out what interests they have in media and TV in music. But not only do you need to know where to find these people, what you really need to know. What you really need to understand is the way that they see the problem that you’re going to solve. Don’t see it from your point of view where you’ve already solved it. See it from their point of view, from their point of pain, how do they experience the world with that pain in their lives. Once you understand that, you’ll be able to make a connection with your customers so that you can have a conversation and advance your relationship on to commerce. I’m Nino Prodan, and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
