  • How To Stop Fear From Holding You Back STS #040
    Transcript:
Welcome back to the Smash system podcast. I’m Nino Prodan. And in this episode, I’m going to continue talking about fear. But I want to get specific today I want to talk about your fear, and what to do about it. See, a lot of the times we have fears that come up and we just push them down, push past them. And when we do that, those fears get suppressed. And when fears are suppressed, they’re still there. And they still haunt us. They still affect us, and we need to deal with them head on, rather than try to suppress them and ignore them. Pretend that they’re not there. Because if we do that, then we can put the fears to rest. I kinda like to compare it to children and temper tantrums. When a kid wants your attention. They’ll buggy for it. They’ll keep bugging you for and you can keep telling them to wait or pushing them away and saying not right now. And if you continue to do that the frustration and the kids going to build up. And at one point, they’re just going to blow up and start throwing a temper tantrum. And that’s what happens with your fear. If you push it away or pretend it’s not there, it’s going to rise up, probably at the point when it’s most inconvenient, or at the point where you’re at the most pressure when you need all your faculties and you need to concentrate, and you’re under stress. And that’s when you’re most susceptible. That’s when you can’t push it down anymore. That’s when you can’t move forward anymore. Because you’re carrying so much baggage at this point that you break, you start to freak out, you start to panic, start to think you can’t do this anymore. And it’s time now to stop doing that to yourself. Let’s start addressing the fears that come up and acknowledge them. Just because you acknowledge a fear doesn’t make it real, but it’s heard and one of the best ways to deal with Especially when you’re initially starting to do this is just to set aside an hour to really dig into your fears. And write them all out, write everything down, get it all out of your brain, your brain likes to hold on to things that aren’t permanent. So write it down, get it out of your brain. And then once you have it all down, start to look at them and see if they’re valid. And if they are valid, look at ways to deal with the problem. And if they’re not valid, there’s something you made up and there’s no backing to it. Start looking at ways to invalidate that fear. Start looking at websites or data that will invalidate that fear. That way you can move forward that way you can focus on the ones that are somewhat valid or are totally valid and start creating solutions for them. Remember, fear is just information. So once we start learning the information that it has to give us, we can start using it to start taking action to start fixing things that are bothering us. And the other thing is writing down all these fears now helps you understand where you can grow, helps you understand where you’ve grown from later on. And if you’re creating a business, it’ll help you understand your future clients if they look like you. Because once you move beyond these fears, sometimes it’s really hard to understand where you came from. And this will create a record for you. So you know, the fears that people go through, you be able to place yourself back in your shoes now so you’ll know how to talk to your future clients. And one more tip about your fears is also understand where the fear comes from. Is it something you’ve generated? Is it something that society has generated for you? Is it something that comes from your family Understand the root of it, because sometimes just knowing that invalidates the fear altogether, I hope you’ve had a valuable week, Nino Prodan and I will talk to you on

  • Fear As A Weapon STS #039
    Transcript:
Welcome back to The smash a system podcast. I’m Nino Prodan. And today I want to continue talking about fear as we have this week, and move on from yesterday where we talked about fear as a superpower. And I want to talk about fear as a weakness as a kryptonite. Throughout evolution, our species has evolved because of fear. We had to find a way to stay alive. We had to avoid predators, and other things that wanted to eat us. So we had to be on alert. Fear kept us alive, but we weren’t always in a state of fear. However, in today’s society, we are because evolution our brains have always been looking for danger to keep us alive. But now that we don’t have that danger, it gets manufactured for us. Just look at the news. Think about how much of the news is positive, how much of it is based on something scare the heck out of you. And that’s because fear gets your attention. Your brain wants to pay attention to fear and wants to pay attention to something that could harm you so it could get you out of harm’s way. But the problem is, you’re not in danger like he used to be. But people, advertisers, the media, politics, they all know that the first thing you pay attention to is fear. So they use it all the time, to get your attention to take control of you. And what I mean by taking control of you is they start to make you pay attention to things that they want you to pay attention to. And unless you’re aware of this, you go along. So what I want is for you to be aware of this, be aware of the fear that you’re being fed. Every time someone tells you that you’re going to lose your job because of something else, every time that people say that something’s going to kill you and it has a one in a million chance of killing you. Stop eating that fear telemann is enough, turn it off and live your life. Yeah, there’s a chance of a meteor falling on your head tomorrow. Is it a good chance? No. It’s like a one in a trillion chance. So why pay attention to it? You can’t even do anything about it. So why pay attention to it? Start looking at what you’re focusing on? are you focusing on things that you want to pay attention to? Or I’m what you’re being told to pay attention to? Stop letting others use fear against you. I’ve had people say, Oh, no, I can’t stop watching the news. I need to know what’s going on. First, how much of the news is actual news and how much of it is just an opinion of somebody else? To I want to make you a bet. I bet you you can go a whole week without watching the news and still live your day to day life and it won’t be impacted one bit. Somehow the news will filter to you through other channels. That’s a promise. That I can make you that is unless you’re a hermit living in the woods somewhere up in the mountains without an internet connection without a phone, you don’t do anything but chop wood all day. I haven’t watched the news and more or less 10 years, I still get by fine. So stop having your emotions hijacked by someone else for their purposes. And you might ask me, Well, what do I do with all that time and I say, do something you love to do? Spend time with someone that you love? Do something that makes you feel good. And after a week, I want you to get back to me. And let me know if you were able to survive. Let me know how you feel. Are you happier? Are you less anxious? Are you less stressed? We have the ability to enjoy our lives. All we need to do is own it. I’m Nino Prodan and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.

  • Fear As A Superpower! STS #038
    Transcript:
This the Smash system podcast. Welcome back. I’m Nino Prodan. Today I want to talk further about fear, which is what we’ve been talking about this week. And everybody talks about fear as something bad, something that you need to avoid. And I want to talk about the good parts of fear. Fear is something that keeps you honest, it helps you understand that something’s not right. The problem with fear is that you’re kind of hard wired to react to it to run away from it. But if you override that reaction, you can use fear to benefit you. You can turn it into your superpower. But the problem is most people instead of pushing through that initial reaction to run away to stop doing what they’re doing, they give into it. And because of that fear stops them from doing something that’s out of the ordinary, might possibly have some danger to it. And it’s danger. It’s not something that’s going to kill you. It’s not a tiger that’s attacking you. But when your brain triggers fear, that’s the way you react, you react like something’s going to kill you. So you run away from it, you stop doing it. You say, Oh, no, that’s too dangerous. I can’t. Okay, that’s great. You can turn fear into a superpower. But how do you do it? Well, the first key to turning fear into a superpower is actually feeling the fear. And this is something that most people don’t do because your brain is hardwired to just ignore it or try to solve it. It’s not a problem to solve. It’s an emotion. So don’t run away from whatever you’re trying to do feel that emotion. It’s actually there to tell you something. It’s there to give you information. And if you feel that emotion, it’ll start to give you understanding, understanding into the situation your subconscious runs very quickly, it analyzes Is everything in every moment to see if there’s something there to kill you. And it compares it to a database that you have stored from every instant of your life, to tell you if it sees danger, and the danger doesn’t necessarily have to kill you, it could just be something that’s a threat. So fear lets you detect threats, even before you can consciously perceive it. your unconscious mind can see it before you can make sense of it. So use fear as an early warning system, to feel the emotion and then start to analyze that feelings start to analyze the emotion that’s coming through. Look at the situation you’re in. What is it that fear is telling you about and then take the time to decide whether or not there’s a truth to the danger. Whether or not the alert that’s going off is valid. If it’s it’s valid and take some steps to correct it. But if it’s not, now that you’ve accepted the motion, you can move on. And this is creating courage. Courage is not about ignoring fear. It’s about using fear. It’s about engaging the fear. When you engage that emotion and feel it and then understand it. That’s what courage is. So now you have fear as an early detection system. To help you understand whether or not something’s wrong. All you need to do is feel it, understand it, and then decide what to do. I’m Nino Prodan. And I will talk to you tomorrow.

  • Fear Of Not Being Accepted Keeps You Contained STS #037
    Transcript:
Welcome back to the Smash system podcast. I’m your host, Nino Prodan. And in this episode, I want to dig deeper into one aspect of fear. And that’s the fear of not being accepted. There is one aspect of humanity. That’s wonderful. We work as a group, we work together in a community. And because of that, we want to be part of a community, we want to be accepted into it. That way we can work together and get more things done, because the manpower because the whole concept of two heads are better than one. You know, you multiply that and more people can get more things done. You can see things from different angles. But the problem is this becomes a double edged sword because working together with people working in a community, you want a certain cohesion, you want to think of like sometimes and to do that you have to act in a certain way. But there’s the problem. Our brains start telling us stories that if we don’t ask in a certain way that we won’t fit in, that we won’t be accepted into a group. And when we lived in little clans and small remote areas were separated and not mobile. And the only way that we communicate with people is face to face, that was definitely something that you really had to consider. But now you can communicate with people and connect with people online. Now you can connect with people across the world. And that’s also become a double edged sword because people start to only consider the people that think just like them, they start to think of themselves as separate from other humans from humanity, that this is there in the others are just others, someone that they shouldn’t consider. And it’s a balancing act. You have to understand that you’re part of a community, but also have the courage to speak for yourself to actually be who you are. I think society through media has created a way to Limit people to stop people from being themselves. And it’s starting to come to a point where people are tired. They don’t want to live by someone else’s expectations. They don’t want to live by someone else’s rules. And in fact, that’s what this podcast is all about. It’s about finding who you are, and living by who you are. It’s about defining who you are and not letting anyone else define you. It’s about finding your voice and letting people hear it. There’s been a system in place to silence you, to stop you from making a change, to continue in a box so that everyone knows what to expect from you to limit your beliefs. So you’re always afraid and when you’re afraid you’re easy to control. Don’t do that. Don’t think that you’re not going to be part of the community. Don’t act like that. No one’s gonna like you. And yes, if you’re a jerk to everybody, sure, nobody’s gonna like you. But if you Speaking about who you are at the very core of you, if you hold that principle in front of you, and speak from that point, the people that are going to like you or the people that you want to like you, they’re going to be the people that you’d like to hang out with. So don’t limit who you are because you’re afraid. And I’m talking about the core of who you are. I’m not talking about pleasure seekers and pleasers. I’m talking about people when they get down to the very core of who they are, and speak from there, they become vulnerable. You don’t speak about being tough, speak about struggling and overcoming. It’s about sharing with people, your vulnerabilities, your imperfections, and not always being right. It’s about owning your actions, and owning your thoughts. Become courageous and share who you are. And when you do that, you’ll be amazed. So People yes will run away because they’re afraid to they’re afraid to share who they are. But don’

  • This 1 Thing Is Holding You Back From Success STS #036
    Transcript:
Welcome back to The smash a system podcast. I’m Nino Prodan. This episode I want to talk about the one thing that is holding you back from success. There’s one thing that we all have in common. Every human being has this problem. And until you address it, you’re going to always struggle to move forward. There’s always going to be something in your way and that one thing is fear. Be it fear of success, fear of failure, fear of not knowing, uncertainty, which is just fear, not being accepted, having things disorganized or not being in control, not being productive, not being enough, not being successful. fear of loneliness, fear of change, fear of not having freedom or fear of getting hurt. All these fears are holding you back. And that’s because fear puts you in a mode of protection. You want to protect what you have, but when you’re Protecting what you have, it’s really difficult, if not impossible, to reach for something that you don’t, you have to open yourself up to get something new. And if you give in to fear, you just can’t do that. If you want an example on the corporate scale, look at businesses that start to protect themselves from catastrophic events. What happens to them? Do they continue to grow? Or do they contract? Do they start to push people away? Do they start firing people? Every time you go into protection mode, you start to close yourself off and become smaller, not bigger. You cannot grow in a fear state. Your brain doesn’t allow for it. So if you’re having trouble in your business right now, trouble in your life, look at your mental state. Are you constantly in a fear state? Are you always reacting from a fear state? Because a fear state is a state of reaction is not a state of forward thinking. It is not a state of planning ahead. It is a reaction to the current circumstances. and nothing more. If you see yourself going through life, just reacting to everything that’s happening around you, not planning for something bigger not living your life from that place where you are working towards something bigger something in the future, then you’re in a fear state. And you might ask, okay, so what can I do to get out of a fear state? And the first thing you can do is start to live your life through courage, and what courage is this ability to recognize the fear and embrace it, not run away from it, but accept it, understand that it’s there, and then look at yourself, and trust in yourself, that you can overcome it. It’s a step back, a step back from the moment to look at yourself and tell yourself that you trust that you can get that Through this, that, you know, there might be hard times ahead, but you trust yourself that you will find a way through it. So when you find yourself reacting in your life in a fear state, take a moment. Stop. Take a few deep breaths. gain that courage. tell yourself that you trust yourself. Then move forward, engage that fear and overcome whatever is standing in front of you, Nino Prodan I will talk to you tomorrow.

  • What To Do If You Just Don’t Feel Like Doing It STS #035
    Transcript:
Welcome back to the Smash system podcasts. I’m Nino Prodan. And today I want to talk about what to do when you just don’t feel like doing it. What do you do after a long day at work, you get home and you’re going to work on your business, you’re going to work on something that’s important to you. And you’re just wiped out, wiped out by all the BS you had to deal with while you’re at work like that by all the traffic you had to drive through on the way home. Maybe the story is going through your head that you know what, I just put this off until tomorrow, or, you know, this is my thing. I don’t need to do it right now. And I understand it’s kind of ironic, because today, I’m wiped out by everything I was working on today. And I’m recording this podcast. After a long day of just grinding something out. It was it was enjoyable, but I’m wiped out. So I’m going to go through the routine that I go through when I feel this way. First, I try to understand why I don’t feel like doing it. You know, in my case now, what I did was I worked really hard today and I’m mentally exhausted. So the first thing I do is understand it. And you want to try to understand it as deeply as possible. If you just feel tired, that’s one thing, but is it a story that is making you tired? Are you putting something off because you’re afraid to screw it up? Because sometimes that makes you feel tired. You know? Are you putting something off because you don’t feel like it? Or maybe you’re putting it off because it’s hard or boring? Or maybe it seems like it’s insurmountable. So that’s the first thing. Second step is to just accept the feeling except that you have to do it to say hey, you know what? I this is how I Feel. And what this does, unconsciously subconsciously, is it lets your emotions know that they’re being heard. And it’s crazy. But once your emotions are heard, sometimes they stop bugging you they stop nagging you. You might even feel like it’s not that big of a deal to do now, maybe, but that usually at least takes the edge off. The third step is to start to list the positives of taking action. What’s the big picture? What’s the reason that you want to do this? If this is if you’re working in your business, you know, start to look at why you’re working in your business. Why are you trying to create freedom from working for somebody else? Think about the life that you’ll have. Think about. All the time you’re putting in now paying off later, with more time, more freedom, more command of your life. more time to spend with people you love. You know, nowadays, when you’re setting up software or something, all the hard work is really on the front end. And once everything’s done, you can kind of cruise so sometimes you think it’s just a short term deal. And finally, once you understand the reasons for doing it, step number four is just do it. If you’re not fully motivated to do it by this point, and just suck it up and push through. Usually By this time, you’re feeling pretty good, but sometimes you know what, sometimes you just do need to suck it up and just say, you know what, I’ll be grateful for this later. But right now, this sucks, and it’s alright, I’m going to do it. Anyway. I hope this helps. I hope you get to build more of your freedom with this trick, and I will talk to you next week.

  • What Are Marketing Hooks? STS #034
    Transcript:
Welcome back to the Smash The System podcast. I’m your host, Nino Prodan. And yesterday, I talked about testing your marketing. And one of the most important aspects of your marketing you want to test is the hook. And the hook is the attention getter is the part of your marketing that draws people’s attention. It’s like the headline stops them from scrolling stops them from reading onward. It gets them involved in what you’re doing, focusing their attention on you. And hooks could be headlines or images, videos, something that interrupts people’s normal daily patterns. And the reason you want to test hooks the most is because that’s what gets people involved. If people don’t get involved in the first place, then the rest of what you’re doing is obsolete. It doesn’t matter. So getting people to pay attention is the first part and it’s a Specially important these days because people have so many things that want their attention. There’s so many things out there trying to grab people’s attention and keep it and you have to fight that. So it’s important to not just create hooks, but it’s also important to test them to see which one’s the best. Once you figure it out, you can start running more money using that hook in your advertisements, or as the titles to your podcasts or blog posts. And there’s a couple of ways to find good hooks. And one that’s really easy and effective, is asking a question. But beyond that, when you’re looking for hooks, a couple of places to get inspiration could be looking in your past or looking at previous struggles that you’ve had, that you’ve overcome, or possibly are still working on overcoming recreating a story out of something interesting. or different. And the last one is maybe possibly finding something that’s currently thought of as the right way or like common knowledge and showing that it’s wrong or people’s perception of it is incorrect, or the way that people use it is incorrect. So start looking at ways to grab people’s attention. start testing it now. Just throwing it out there and seeing how many comments you get on certain things that you certain hooks that you post. See what draws people’s attention, take note of what’s working and keep building on

  • One Of The Biggest Pitfalls in Marketing STS #033
    Transcript:
Welcome back to The smash a system podcast. I’m Nino Prodan. And then this episode I want to talk about one of the biggest mistakes I see mostly beginning entrepreneurs or beginning marketers make when they’re doing their marketing. And that is thinking that their first try is going to be the best is going to be right is going to make them the most money. And the one thing I learned about marketing is you could feel like you have the most genius idea. You could feel like you have the best perspective on something and then make an ad for and run that ad and get absolutely no traction. And although it may sound like it’s great, sometimes it just doesn’t trigger the right thing and people everything can sound great in theory, but until you test it, you really don’t know if it’s going to work and ad agencies they do a lot of research. A lot of testing before they release anything and put a lot of money behind it. So don’t think your first try or your fifth try failing is a bad thing. Look at it and see what is working and what’s not working. Keep testing different things. When I release ads, I don’t just try one, I do five. But then I take those five, I run them with different pictures. And then I run them with different lengths of text to see which ones attract the audience that we’re looking for. And that’s the other thing. It may sound good and may be catchy, and you may get a lot of attention. But sometimes the attention that you get isn’t from the people that you want. Because if you’re looking to sell something to a group of people and you attract people that don’t want to buy anything and never buy anything, then you’re wasting your money. Everything’s relative to what you’re trying to achieve. So the whole point behind this episode is Learn from your failures. Learn from your failures and use them as a way to improve. Don’t quit, move forward. Don’t bet big on something that you haven’t tested. So test fail and improve. I’m Nino Prodan. And I’ll talk to you tomorrow.

  • The Secret To Marketing STS #032
    Transcript:
Welcome back to the semester system podcast. I’m Nino Prodan. Yesterday I talked about changing your perspective of what marketing is. I talked about how marketing is a relationship, developing a relationship with clients and possible future clients and customers. And today I want to expand on what marketing is and what it’s not. First, let’s talk about more of what it’s not. Marketing is not telling people what your product is, and the features of it, and how it’s going to benefit you. It’s not talking about yourself, and what your process is, if it’s a service. Instead, shift your thinking until seeing things from your future clients and current clients and customers, from their perspective. What is it that they want? What are the results that they want? See, they’re out there trying to find a solution to something and a lot of the times they have these beliefs That are telling them what they’re looking for or what they’re not looking for telling them that they know what the solution is, they just need to find it. And sometimes you need to lead them to understand that you have the solution. If you know you have the solution, you need to help them understand what the solution is. People could be barking up the wrong tree and need to understand where the solutions lie. If it’s a service many times it’s something that they need to develop within themselves, or that they need to learn that they need to see the world from a different perspective. And you need to shift their beliefs to see that their solution is actually found elsewhere. Many times people are actually getting in their own way, not thinking of a different solution, not seeing the world from a different perspective. Kind of like this podcast itself. It’s helping you shift your belief from thinking that marketing is talking about yourself and talking about the process of your product and what your product is and the features of it, rather than shifting beliefs. For example, if I’m selling you a sandwich, and I’m talking about the tomatoes and the lettuce and the thickness of the burger and that there’s a bun. It’s not really appealing. But if I talk about how satisfied you’re going to be when you eat the sandwich, I talked about how this sandwich is going to taste better than anything else that you’re going to find out there, that you’ll come away satisfied after eating the sandwich. I’m finding beliefs that you might have, okay, this is a mediocre sandwich and I’m shifting it into you being satisfied. I’m shifting it from what you might find with one sandwich and saying that this will be better than that sandwich. Your belief might be that you won’t be satisfied after eating the sandwich and the shift is that you will be satisfied that you won’t be appointed. I’ve read over and over again that people buy on emotion and then justify that purchase with facts. So don’t sell with your facts. So with the emotion and then give them facts that can help them justify that purchase. That’s all for today. I will talk to you tomorrow.

  • How To Create A Relationship With Customers STS #031
    Transcript:
Welcome to the Smash system podcast. I’m your host, Nino Prodan. And in this episode, I want to talk to you about how to create a relationship with your clients. And there may be a word that you’re familiar with in this regard, but don’t consider it creating a relationship with your clients. And that’s marketing. And before I started my coaching business, I used to look at marketing as a bad thing. It was a bad word to me. To me, it felt like someone out there trying to just convince me to give them my money. And I thought of marketing is sleazy. I thought of it as something that wasn’t good. And then when I tried to do it, of course, that’s the intent I brought to the interaction. And if marketing is a bad thing to you, you’re not going to want to do it. You’re not going to thrive in your business, because marketing is essential. But what I want you to do is start to look at marketing as something different. It’s not asking people to buy from you. It’s creating a relationship with your potential customers, your current customers, and maintaining that relationship. Because that’s what marketing is these days. Yeah, before it used to be something else, where it was basically people trying to take your money or convincing you to give them your money. But the internet and social media has created an environment where marketing can be something else. It can be something more. You know, what brands were back in the day is what marketing is now and that’s creating trust. You create a relationship with your customers, so that you have their trust so that they know when they do give you their money, that they’re getting something valuable in return. And it’s not them giving you money. It’s an exchange and exchange of money for the value that you will give them nobody’s losing out on this trend. Action they’re gaining from your product or service, and you’re gaining their money in return. It’s a win win situation that you’re creating. No one’s losing out. No one’s taking advantage of the other. It’s just an exchange of value for value. And once you realize that, that’s what marketing is. Once your brain starts to acknowledge that that’s what marketing is, it starts to become easier, it starts to become something you might possibly even look forward to doing because that that’s what happened to me. I hated marketing. I hated the whole concept of marketing. And then I changed my mindset on it. And it’s something that I actually enjoy doing now. It’s something that I have fun with. And it’s something where I get to share who I am both in what I want in life, and my quirky personality and the funny things that I do. Which I’m still working on, including in this podcast. So change your perspective of marketing. It’s a relationship that you build with your customers to build trust, so that you can both exchange value with each other. I’m Nino Prodan. And I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
