  • TML196: Career Change Is The Only Constant In Life At Midlife with Kingsley Grant
You may have heard it said, “Change is the only constant in life” but I’m creating a twist to that phrase by adding one word – Career.
In this episode you’ll hear me making reference to career change as the only constant in life at midlife even though it might not hold up as a scientific fact.
There are a number of changes that are made at midlife for many people. Based on what I’ve seen, heard and read, changes occur mostly in relationships and career at this stage of life.

It would seem that a very large number of the divorces occur during the midlife years as people realize they have grown apart or they spent most of their life focused on the kids and not the marriage.
As couples, they feel more like strangers than they do husband and wife. There’s no connection and may not have had one for several years.
Life becomes unravelled during this stage of life. There are pressures from all sides especially as one looks forward and backward.
What is seen in looking forward, could be quite depressing – aging parents, financial lack, time slipping by and more.
This depressed feeling could also be found looking backward. Seeing a generation behind and the world that awaits them, create some anxieties.
The good news is that by embracing change, the pictures seen before and behind, would not look as dim as it now does.
As you listen to this episode, you’ll discover some of my own challenges as I too wrestle with change even though it is not career change per se.
I share on some of the above ideas in my new book – The Midlife Launch, which you can access below. I also outlined in my eBook practical steps you can take to identify, clarify and pursue your dream / passion.

  • TML195: The 3 Positive Affirmations That Changed My Life with Dr. Philip Carson
There are mixed reactions to the idea of positive affirmations. Some people see it as not in harmony with their belief system whereas others don’t give it any credence.
For me it was both. I saw positive affirmations as hokey-pokey and something to stay away from. As a matter of fact I saw it as for those who practiced eastern mysticism, which was in contrast to my belief system.
In recent years, all that has changed for me. Not entirely but for the most part. I still have some skepticism for the extreme beliefs that equates positive affirmations to that of being god-like.
The message is that as a human-being, you have more power than you realize to control life circumstances. I shy away from that because of my belief in a Supreme Being who alone have such power.
Nevertheless, I was able to approach the subject with an open and inquiring mind. I was pleasantly surprised at how some of what is purported lines up with my belief system.
    This changed my perception.
With that in mind, it made it a whole lot easier to understand where our guest – Dr. Philip Carson was coming from when he talked about positive affirmations.
The neat thing is that his situation was so dark and seemingly overwhelming, it was hard to see how positive affirmation could help him. But it was one of the most important aspects of his rituals that made a difference.
In this episode our guest – Dr. Philip Carson, will give us a guided tour on this flight, discussing how he went through some very rough and dark moments of his life. He lost all he had worked so hard for to the crumbling economy. The only thing left was his house.
You’ll hear him discuss what worked for him and how positive affirmations can work for you as well. Even though this was not the central theme of his interview, he used the parts about his failures to heighten the role positive affirmations played in his life.

  • TML194: How To Take Swift Action After A Conference with Bill Griggs
Taking action much less swift action after a conference is a challenge in and of itself.
Most times, it’s not that you don’t have good intentions, it’s that once you have settled into your routine once again, life gets in the way.
Do you find that to be true as well?
I know that I’ve done that on many occasions. As a matter of fact I have some unopened boxes and books that I had good intention of consuming once I returned home but never did.
What I have found out is that if you are able to capture one or two things write it down, you’ll have a better chance of following through. Stacking everything together, makes it more challenging.
In this episode, you’ll hear Bill Griggs and I brainstorm some strategies as how to increase your chance of taking action after a conference.
We wove these strategies throughout the interview so I suggest taking some notes or putting the player on pause at the points you want to digest the ideas shared.
We recorded this episode while we were at the conference. It was called Podcast Movement. It was held in Chicago. There were about 1500 people (podcasters and aspiring podcasters) in attendance.
Hopefully after listening to this episode, you’ll be determined to not repeat the “good intentions” of the last time. Learn to take swift action after a conference is now your new motto.

  • TML193: From A Yoga Mat To Greatness and Live Your Dream | Sarah McVanel
Who would have ever thought that a vision for your future could come while laying on your back on a yoga mat?
I’ll tell you who: someone who believes that in the stillness or quietness of the moment, these things can happen.
Even though I’m not a practicing yoga person, I have heard some of the great benefits of the practice.
I must hastily say that the hokey-pokey kind of yoga where you are in trance-like state or other induced mind altering moments, is strange for me. I’m not a proponent of that.

I’m not here trying to put anyone’s practice down, but I’m just not into that kind of stuff.
What I can say, is that the people that I’ve found to be intriguing and do get my time and attention, are those who look at yoga more from a health perspective.
This is why I was fascinated by Sarah’s story. Not only by how she experienced the vision that became a reality as she shared in this episode, but how well she can articulate her story or stories.
Sarah has a unique ability to capture one’s attention as you will discover in this show.

  • TML192: 4 Lessons From Brexit To Yourexit | Kingsley Grant
Learning from Brexit and the EU or any other world or local event, is one way to create a plan of action for your own personal exit – yourexit.
This exit could be from any situation that you don’t find favorable to your overall growth: a relationship, job, living situation and so on.
In this episode, you’ll discover the four lessons within the context of your job and how it impacts you. You will see the parallel with that of Britain as they sought and won exit from the European Union.

The lessons are one that you can use to strategize your own exit from where you are to where you want to be. Like the people in Britain you might be longing to be the creator of your own destiny.
Being self-determinant and having the freedom to do so, is one of the desires of the human heart.
    Here are the four lessons:
    1. Have a WHAT
    2. Have a WHY
    3. Have a WHEN
    4. Have a HOW
Even though they might seem basic in nature, you’ll discover as you listen, profound truths that are packed within them.
I share on some of the above lessons in my new book – The Midlife Launch, which you can access below. I also outlined in my eBook practical steps you can take to identify, clarify and pursue your dream / passion.
