You’d be forgiven, as a buyer in this market, for thinking maybe this is a good time to wait. Prices have come down, maybe they’ll go down further. The media stories are all about a cooling market.
But underneath the headlines, on the street where the market is played out, there are signs of a return. Inventories are remarkably low, homes priced right are receiving multiple offers, and rental inventories are bare.
No one knows for sure, but that window of opportunity may not be open long.

Separated and divorcing spouses are going through one of the most difficult chapters of their lives. Finances and Real Estate can play a big role.
The first step in sorting things out is to prepare a financial statement. That may include real estate properties that one or the other wants to sell but there isn’t necessarily agreement. What happens then? Inevitably it can get complicated, but it doesn’t have to be messy.
Guest: Leanne Townsend, Family Law Attorney
Leanne is the founder of Townsend Family Law where her practice is focused on family law, domestic violence and victim advocacy. She has degrees in political science, education and law.

2022 started with a buying frenzy with prices going through the proverbial roof. Borrowing rates were low so multiple offers was the norm. But then came the interest rate hikes and buyer fatigue set in.
Does that mean we’re due for a crash in 2023?
Not likely.
Surveys are showing consumers are overwhelmingly saying “I’m going to get back into the market, I just don’t know my timing.”
It’s also consistently clear the greater Toronto area continues to be the biggest magnet for new immigrants to Canada, and one of the biggest reasons for that is the diversified and healthy job market.
In this episode, economist Steve Tabrizi has a closer look at all the indicators and resolves 2023 is likely a year of stabilization without parachutes required.

Real Estate Markets have softened. The weather has gotten colder. But you still need to sell your home and achieve top dollar.
Believe it or not, staging your home in the dead of winter doesn’t need to be tricky. Some staging here and there with big knits, furs, cozy things, and we can get this done.
In this episode Des talks with staging expert Tamara Grierson on how to make your home look (and FEEL) great when it’s on display in the colder months.

The Toronto Star’s Tess Kalinowski knows Toronto Real Estate. She spends every day covering its stories.
And oh what stories the year can tell.
There were stories of people cashing in their GTA properties and moving away… many of them later returning.
With the downturn in the market the pressure is on sellers. Some buyers have responded with “low-ball” offers. There were stories of those working.
Rental prices have gone up, up, up. And many renters have responded by moving out, out, out.
Tess looks back at the stories of the year and looks longer term at pieces like Bill 23 – the Build Houses Faster Act. Is 1.5 million homes in ten years actually doable?
