Hearing loss is one of those misunderstood disabilities even amongst those that have it. When asking how he identifies himself in regards to his hearing loss, he messaged back. " I identify as a Deaf individual, one that is bilingual and utilizes hearing aids. Well, that sounds very clear, however, it could be confusing to most. As to how does a deaf person hear with hearing aids? No wonder Marlee Matlin has been having a hard time getting the hear well people understand what having a hearing loss is like. Because, if someone can hear they are not deaf from a clinical view. They might be legal deaf which is at a 70-decibel hearing loss and it's easier to just say they are deaf.
