In this session, Adam works with a client that actively wanted to get lung cancer. Adam works with them to identify that there is incongruency and that not all parts want to die or lung cancer. Adam applies the law of reverse effect, aiming to create a vision that is undesirable to empower the part that wants to live to become more influential. Adam also creates a suggestion that by enjoying smoking it boosts the immune system so in order to get cancer quicker he has to no longer enjoy smoking - this could then reduce the amount of smoking to decrease the chance of getting cancer quicker. For most smokers, this session will have the effect of creating an association of smoking with cancer and death, even though most smokers have created a dissociation from their behaviour and the possible consequences for health.
