When Ginger's mother finally escaped the extreme poverty she had been living in, taking her to fast-food restaurants tasted like redemption. Being poorly nourished for years took a toll on Ginger's health, who, after almost being prostrated to bed for life after complications with an injection, decided to stop poisoning her body.
