Breaking down new bloodlines for impressive genetic gains! STgenetics® released 14 new Holstein sires this June and team members Logan Voigts and Alan Kruse join us to share more about this impressive group. As we continue to celebrate June Dairy Month, Kaylee Hill from Oakridge Dairy of Ellington, Connecticut joins us to share about their annual Farm Day which they anticipate will attract 3,500 people this year who are looking to meet their farmer! With the vision to be the farm of the future in a world where people know their farmer, Oakridge prioritizes tours and creating a lasting experience year-round, however their Farm Day is a large event they focus on to bring many aspects of their farm all together to show their community where their milk is coming from and the care that goes into that entire process. The event will be held on June 28th at the farm for any of our local listeners who would be interested in participating!

As we round out May Beef Month we sit down with Brandon Beavers of Dairyland Cattle of Oklahoma to learn how they added value to the terminal Jersey bull calf by intentionally selecting high genetic beef bulls. Brandon shares insights into their breeding strategies, the importance of colostrum, and the impact genetics and nutrition in producing high-quality beef. In 2013 they started finishing these calves out and now have a database of several thousand carcass data points that they use to make the beef eating experience the best possible when coming from Dairyland Cattle.
