OUR JULY CHALLENGE HAS BEGUN. We've laid out some weekly targets for the month and will be keeping eachother accountable along the way. It will be the perfect way to transition into some bigger and tougher training weeks which are fast approaching. Butzy's on a mission to get 'diced' so lets see how this one plays out.

This week we interview the great and powerful Gav Godkin, otherwise known as CEO of Eager2Elite and our coach! Gav has been a wonderful addition to the Sunday Sippers community with assisting us on our recent Ironman journey and we have been waiting for a long time to get him on the podcast to discuss his life, coaching & athletic career. He is a man of many talents with a wide variety of stories and we are so grateful he took the time to share some incredible knowledge and experiences with us today. Enjoy this weeks episode and if you're looking for the best coach in Canberra for your running or triathlon needs, look no further than the great man at Eager2Elite!
Only a 5am intruder can spoil a sober Saturday evenings sleep. But whats worse than that? trying to brake while rolling down a hill and realising your brakes are still on vacation in port mac from a month and a half ago, HELLO??? WHY ARENT YOU BRAKING BRUZ?? Johnboy lived to tell the tale thank the lord. Things are changing around here though - programs and health kicks are in full swing. Because as we know, summer rigs are made in the darkness of a Canberra winter (or so they say).
Shoutout to the king, there's not much better than a long weekend. On Friday Jono hosted his annual dinner party and what a cracker it was. We've certainly had fun the last 6 weeks but its time to get back in the cave and get to work. We touch on both of our preps in the lead up to City2Surf for John and Western Sydney 70.3 for Butzy.
Johno has rolled back into town (literally rolled in the FC) from a 10 day stint in Bali. After 2 massages and 5 meals a day he's ready to chat to coach Gav and gear up for the back end of the year. Butzy has some huge news about whats next for him and it has the boys FIRED UP. We go over Hayesy's awesome stint on the pavement and just how special the bloke is. 100k's is one hell of an acheivement but to raise over $11k for charity is truly outstanding.
Nico. It's pretty tough to summarise this bloke, but hes just that - tough. He's all ticker. A real grit your teeth operator. No matter the set back (and in his Ironman prep there were plenty) he just keeps trucking nut. It was an absolute honor to tackle the Ironman alongside this bloke. In fact when facing any of lifes challenges, he's the man I want next to me. An absolute competitor and a champion friend. This was a fun one, as Nico perfectly describes the rollercoaster of emotions he endured to become an Ironman.
The time has come to finally review our first Ironman after last Sunday's effort. 6 months of work put into this one, our biggest challenge yet and safe to say it was one of the best experiences we've both had. Today we discuss everything from the few days leading upto the event, to the race itself and the aftermath. We both experienced different challenges along the way and we go in depth about our mindsets when we went through them. Additionally, discussing the final moments before we became Iron Men and what that felt like. We want to thank everyone who has been on this special junky with us and followed Sippers along the way. We truly appreciate the kind words!
7 days away from our Debut at the Ironman Distance has provided many talking points for this race preview. It has been a lot of build up for this day and today we discuss all aspects of our prep. We discuss from the moment we decided to do an Iron Man back in early 2023 and then the process we went on from there. We detail our prep and the differences of our 'building' to 'peaking' phases and what we both learnt and found out about ourselves through there. We answer many of the questions sent through to us from the fans, talk about potential goals for the IM and end of some grateful's - which there were many. Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey and we are excited to put all our hard work to the test come next Sunday
It's not often you have to wait 2 weeks for a Sippers episode so we've packed a punch for todays episode - discussing our final big running session before the taper for IM Australia, Butzy working 70 hour weeks and a review of our Jindy Camp last weekend. Always good to get on the mic to get away from the chaos of life, enjoy the ep and the countdown is officially on - 14 days
Driving for 8 hours is shit enough let alone spending that time on a bike. But we chose voilence this weekend. We're back this week to unpack our 200 click rides that we both conquered. Sleeves were rolled up and we got to work.
We also go through your questions about life and training. Along with a few shoutouts after some stellar performances around the grounds.
Tired, but lifes good at sippers hq
