Surprise!! A little added bonus before we take a break for the summer! 

You all know Mum & I LOVE football, and the World Cup is on right now, so this was mega. Our first footballers on Table Manners!! 

This special episode in partnership with The National Lottery is in support of Good Causes and specifically women’s football. 

We chat to two Lionesses (or goddesses as mum calls them) , England legend Ellen White MBE & one of the England National teams legacy players, Lyn Hale.

We hear all about celebratory meals, which football club has the best catering, how women’s football has changed & what food is most enjoyed after retirement! 

Thanks to National lottery players, over £50m has been raised for women’s football over the past 10 years alone - which has gone towards a variety of initiatives not only to inspire women to play the game at grassroots clubs across the country, but also to support up and coming athletes at an elite level.

What a joy to spend a whole hour talking about football…. Thanks to the National Lottery for setting us up.

It was an absolute joy to cook elevenses for the one and only Andrew Ridgeley last week. Never before has a guest been more thorough and specific when we asked about their last supper. Arriving by bus, he told us all about the wonderful Wham! documentary, about his time in the band, his perfectionism when cooking, his epic 10-day bike ride across the UK and we discovered that not only are Club Tropicana drinks free…. they were also made of coloured water.

This week we have a musician, singer, songwriter, composer, TV star and political campaigner - there is nothing he cannot do - it’s Jon Batiste! He’s won Grammys, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and even an Oscar, and now he’s popped round to mine for a Middle Eastern Mezze inspired brunch. A New Orleans native, music & food have always been a huge part of Jon’s life, and he told us all about his love of Red Beans & Rice, Po Boy Sandwiches, Crawfish Boils and Pepperoni Pizza with a dollop of honey. His beautiful piano playing at the end of the meal is definitely not to be missed, thank you for being the most wonderful guest Jon, you’re welcome back for more houmous anytime you’re in London! Jon’s new album World Music Radio is released on the 18th August and is available to pre-order now.

Actress extraordinaire, activist, podcaster, and all round general delight Jaime Winstone joins us this week on Table Manners. Usually I bump into Jaime in a festival field or in a club, so it’s a lovely change to have her round for a spot of lunch at mine! Despite being a massive foodie, Jaime admits she isn’t the best cook… but she told us all about her food adventures in Sicily, her total love of a farm shop and why bread sauce and cherry brandy ice lollies are absolute essentials! Jaime is currently treading the boards in the West End production of 2:22 A Ghost Story and can also be seen starring as a dominatrix (!) in the brand new series Count Abdulla on ITVX.

Ahead of the release of her brand new album ‘Unhealthy’, Anne-Marie told us all about her dressing room rider at The Voice, the entire room at her house dedicated to her Lego collection, and a sorry story involving battery acid… just wait! It was an absolute pleasure to have you round Anne-Marie, promise next time we will have a breakfast burrito or a peanut butter sandwich to serve up for you! The new album ‘Unhealthy’ is released on the 28th July.

Ahead of the release of his epic new album 'Last Man Dancing’ this Friday, we have the one and only Jake Shears joining us for a spot of dinner. Mum served up a delicious healthy turbot and samphire for main with poached pears for pud. Jake was utterly charming, he told us all about the various places he lived while growing up, including the island his family moved to off the coast of Seattle where it's inhabited by foot long Banana Slugs (Google it, they’re gross!), the beautiful and moving story of his best friend who inspired the hit song ‘Mary’, and drinking the mysterious ‘magic tonic’ purple drinks with the locals on Bourbon Street in his second home of New Orleans - a must do apparently! Jake we absolutely LOVE your fabulous new album, can’t wait to have you round for Friday night chicken soup again soon! x
