The boys are BACK!!
Season 2 of Chase & Josh: Fact or Fantasy is finally here and we are thrilled to have you all join us once again!
In this Season 2 Premiere episode, the Riddikulus Crew details what it was like to put a full season of podcasting in the books, introduce the topics that are on the docket for us to cover, talk about some of the new changes as well as additions to the show, how we are going to improve from Season 1, and then close out with a fun rankings portion for your enjoyment.
Since we are changing the dynamic of the agenda, how new topics will be announced, and the way episodes will be structured, this season premiere is a can’t miss episode.
The return is at hand.
"You'll stay with me?" asked Harry.
"Until the very end," said James.
The time has come to close out the inaugural season of Chase & Josh: Fact or Fantasy and what a ride it has been. This amazing journey began by opening up our show with the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie rankings, to taking part in the Star Wars, then spinning off to the Outer Rim with Mando, to tossing a coin to our Witcher in the valley of plenty, followed by surviving The Long Night #ForTheThrone, then heading out west while questioning the nature of our reality with our favorite lifelike hosts, and finally wrapping up this wild first season by attending Hogwarts, learning some magic, and saving the Wizarding World with Harry, Ron & Hermione.
The Riddikulus Crew wanted to conclude Season 1 by doing something special and delivering a fan-favorite rankings episode, which would bring everything full circle (something we are quite fond of here) finishing exactly how we started or "opening at the close". In this episode, Chase & Josh put together 10 categorized rankings and defend their selections in this can't miss season finale! So follow along one last time for this season and see what you agree or disagree with as we bring this epic Harry Potter arc to an end in style.
Thank you so much for being the shields that guard the realms of fantasy, for all the support and loyalty, for bringing this from an unknown fun hobby to a globally ranked podcast, and most importantly, thank you for making us a part of your life with the time you've spent listening to Chase & Josh: Fact or Fantasy. We'll catch you all down the road for Season 2, but in the words of our favorite Marauders, all that's left to say about Season 1 is....
"Mischief Managed."
"Mr. Ollivander, one last thing, and then we'll let you get some rest. What do you know about the Deathly Hallows?"
"The ---- the what?" asked the wandmaker, looking utterly bewildered.
"The Deathly Hallows."
"I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about. Is this still something to do with wands?" (Page 498)
We are excited to close out Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in its entirety today as we evaluate and compare the major differences between Chapters 25 through the Epilogue of the novel against the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 film!
Join us we highlight the many contradicting moments such as Ollivander apparently knowing about the Deathly Hallows, whose idea flying out of Gringotts on a dragon was, Voldemort apparently feeling when his Horcruxes were destroyed, Sirius' mirror debacle, the film omitting Aberforth's story about his sister, omitting Percy's reunion with his family, leaving out the majority of Snape's memories, Harry snapping the Elder Wand in half without repairing his own wand, and Voldemort turning to dust.
Have some fun with this one because you're getting vintage Chase & Josh as they hold nothing back as well as sound off on what they liked, disliked and absolutely hated about the film adaptation of the novel, and how it severely alters the plot of the story negatively. It's been a long time coming and the end of the arc is finally near. With just the bonus episode remaining after this, you're not going to want to miss a thing!
"Ron and Hermione seemed a long way away, in a far-off country; he felt as though he had parted from them long ago. There would be no good-byes and no explanations, he was determined of that. This was a journey they could not take together, and the attempts they would make to stop him would waste valuable time." (Page 693)
Today marks the very last episode of Interesting Facts so join Chase on this side segment for the final time while he covers subjects as they pertain to the events found in Chapter 34 through the Epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Tag along as Chase details the future of important characters in their life after Hogwarts, touches on each of the Deathly Hallows, explains some of the most prestigious Patronuses, and provides insight on what some of the live-action cast has been up to since.
"The last trace of steam evaporated in the autumn air. The train rounded a corner. Harry's hand was still raised in farewell." (Page 759)
It all opens at the close here in this segment as the Riddikulus Crew concludes the final novel in the Harry Potter series, covering Chapter 34 through the Epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Stay tuned for the brief return of some dearly departed characters, a purgatory of sorts, the truths Harry desired from Albus Dumbledore first hand, the power of love's sacrifice, the Hogwart's defender's last rally, the fate of the remaining Horcruxes, the Elder Wand's loyalty, and the final curse of the final confrontation.
With Chase & Josh closing out the contents of the final novel, drawing attention to all of the full circle moments, and mentioning any issues with the plot, stick with us because you are on the verge of crossing the Harry Potter finish line! It's been a wild Hogwarts Express train ride since we began this journey and this episode is all about the answers and final resolution.
"There are no more Horcruxes. It's just you and me. Neither can live while the other survives, and one of us is about to leave for good. . . ."
Chase is back in the saddle with another Interesting Facts episode, and is ready to jump into some obscure material found in Chapter 29 through Chapter 33 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Stay vigilant as Chase tackles the backstory of Ravenclaw's Lost Diadem, the instructions to creating a spell including Etymology, Incantations, and Wand Movements.
Additionally, Chase presents his personal Patronus, describes the defining characteristics, and shares the relevance to his life.
"I stole the diadem," repeated Helena Ravenclaw in a whisper. "I sought to make myself cleverer, more important than my mother. I ran away with it." (Page 616)
Brace yourselves because this is it. What everything has been leading to. The Riddikulus Crew is excited to bring you the climax of the story as we cover Chapter 29 through Chapter 33 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Join us with wands at the ready as we return to Hogwarts, learn what the last Horcrux is, spectate a duel of teachers, rally the resistance, reveal the ghost of Ravenclaw Tower's secret, encounter a fiery conflict in the Room of Requirement, take a trip back into the Chamber of Secrets, make our last stand with the defenders of Hogwarts, discover the final truth about Severus Snape, and endure several key deaths of fan favorite characters.
With Chase & Josh giving their all to do the contents of this segment justice, discussing reunions, detailing the biggest actions, highlighting the retroactive continuity and plot twist of the franchise, this is the best of the best of the series. Even though there will still be a few more chapter left for us to review, if there was ever an episode not to miss, it's this one. This one is for the true fans.
"After all this time?"
"Always."
Chase is excited to bring you another episode of Interesting Facts here today with information relative to Chapter 25 through Chapter 28 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Stick around as Chase gets educational with the history of Gringotts Bank, the Lestrange Vault's murky past, the curses and charms which protect the bank, and a run-down of the Ukranian Ironbelly dragon along with its capabilities.
"They were truly trapped now: There was no way out except through the door, and a horde of goblins seemed to be approaching on the other side." (Page 539)
The second half starts now as we pick up at the spot that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 of the film left off, and tackle Chapter 25 through Chapter 28 where we hit the turning point in favor of our heroes.
Follow us through a bargain struck, a child born, a trip to Gringotts, a betrayal on a deal made, an escape on a dragon, Voldemort's realization, unveiling the final Horcrux location, the man behind the face in Harry's two-way mirror, and the truth about Albus Dumbledore's past.
With Chase & Josh recapping the major events, breaking down the details, and debating Dumbledore's intentions, stick with us because the action does not stop!
"The scream of rage, of denial left him as if it were a stranger's: He was crazed, frenzied, it could not be true, it was impossible, nobody had ever known: How was it possible that the boy could have discovered his secret?" (Page 549)
"'I'd never have believed this," Harry said. "The man who taught me to fight dementors ---- a coward." Lupin drew his wand so fast that Harry had barely reached for his own; there was a loud bang and he felt himself flying backward as if punched; as he slammed into the kitchen wall and slid to the floor, he glimpsed the tail of Lupin's cloak disappearing around the door." (Page 214)
It's that time again folks, today the Riddikulus Crew dives in and gives you the good, the bad, and the ugly as we compare the differences between Chapter 1 through Chapter 24 of the novel against the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 film.
Join us as we bring attention to the vital omissions, additions that either detracted or enhanced key moments, unnecessary changes that affect the storyline. Examples include Alastor Moody flying alone on his broom, the lack of a disguise for Harry at Bill & Fleur's wedding, the omission of Harry's 17th birthday, the manner in which we found out the sword of Gryffindor in Snape's office was a fake, leaving out Lupin's arrival/argument at Grimmauld's place, the absence of the portrait of Phineas Nigellus, the lack of Voldemort's appearance at Godric's Hollow, the change of the leader of the Snatchers who take the trio prisoner, and the unresolved fate of Peter Pettigrew
In addition to identifying the major differences, we explain how the story line entirely changes if we took the films version of events at face value, and back up our viewpoints with facts, page numbers of the book, and timestamps of the film. With this marking the halfway point of the final installment in the Harry Potter franchise, you can't afford to miss a single thing!
"And then his scar burst open and he was Voldemort and he was running across the fetid bedroom, his long white hands clutching at the windowsill as he glimpsed the bald man and the little woman twist and vanish, and he screamed with rage, a scream that mingled with the girl's, that echoed across the dark gardens over the church bells ringing in Christmas Day."
