Talk Horse

It's all a bit different this episode as it's Pippa Funnell's birthday, and everyone is very giddy. Luckily Tristan has bought her a special gift in the shape of “the good looking one” from Made in Chelsea - Miles Nazaire.

Miles first became known for appearing alongside Tristan in Made in Chelsea, but he’s also been runner up on Dancing on Ice, is a passionate fitness influencer and ready to turn his hand to learning anything - including how to ride for an American reality series.

Miles chats about his riding history, dating history and dishes the dirt on Tristan before everyone gets unexpectedly philosophical about the pressures life can throw at you and the paths life can take. But, don't worry - there's still plenty of elite horse content courtesy of Olympic horsewoman Pippa Funnell.

Pippa Funnell and Tristan Phipps are joined by show-jumping superstars, and engaged couple, Matt Sampson and Kara Chad.

Kara grew up in Calgary and has represented Canada in Nations Cups, the 2018 World Equestrian Games and as a travelling reserve at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Matt is one of Britain’s most exciting talents - he progressed from pony championships and has gone on to claim major international victories, including being crowned Leading Rider at the 2023 London International Horse Show.

The pair share how they first met in the showjumping ring - when Kara cheekily beat Matt - and how that friendly rivalry grew into a partnership both in and out of the saddle. They talk about their shared passion for producing top-level horses, the highs and lows of life on the international circuit, and the challenge of juggling two elite careers. Plus Matt’s unexpected singing talents…

Also Tristan puts Pippa’s put on the spot in a game of “Horses for Choruses…”

Pippa Funnell and Tristan Phipps are joined by eventer and social media star Megan Elphick, the rider behind Elphick Event Ponies, who has turned her grassroots eventing journey into a true digital phenomenon.

From early days at Pony Club to producing her own horses and sharing every high (and the occasional bump back down to earth) with hundreds of thousands of followers, Megan has built a passionate community who love her honesty, humour and genuine love for horses.

Pippa and Tristan chat to Megan about balancing eventing and content creation, what life is really like as an eventing influencer, and how social media is reshaping the equestrian world.

Plus, Megan gives Pippa a crash course in dating apps, and Tristan tests her Gen Z slang knowledge. Will she truly embody “Mane Character Energy”?

Pippa and Tristan sit down with one of the true icons of British showjumping, David Broome CBE. A six-time Olympian, three-time Olympic medalist, and World Champion, David’s remarkable career spanned decades and helped shape the golden age of British equestrian sport.

He opens up about his unforgettable partnership with Mr Softee, the horse that made him a household name, and the grit, glamour, and occasional chaos of competing around the world when British showjumping was at its peak. Pippa Funnell and Tristan Phipps are Talking Horse with one of the most exciting young talents in British racing, Saffie Osborne. From a childhood spent eventing to becoming one of the flat racing world’s most talked-about jockeys, Saffie has carved out her own path in a sport that runs deep in her family’s bloodline. She opens up about her early days in the saddle, what drew her away from eventing and into the racing world, and how she’s making her mark in a fiercely competitive arena.

She reflects on the devastating accident at Windsor, the long road back to fitness, and the determination that has since powered her to major wins on the track. From the thrill of big race days to the challenges of being a young woman in racing and a little bit of Pippa fan girling along the way.

This week, Pippa and Tristan sit down with one of racing’s most iconic trainers, Henrietta Knight -  the woman behind the legendary Best Mate, whose extraordinary record of three consecutive Cheltenham Gold Cup victories has never been beaten.

But that’s not all. Alongside racing, she is a breeder of Connemara ponies, a showing judge, and an author. And despite retiring in 2012, she made a remarkable return to training in 2023 and has already saddled winners on both the Flat and over hurdles. An incredible list of achievements and an epic life story.

In this episode, she opens the stable door on her many lives — from fashion shoots to cross-country courses — and reveals a few hidden passions you might not expect. It’s a ride that’s part glamour, part horsepower, and all Jodie Kidd.
