  • The Cosmic Romance with Existence: A Personal Guide Book for Spiritual Warriors to Merge their Light with the Cosmic Light. by Murali Dharan

Murali Dharen was born in 1985 in Singapore of Tamil extraction. He freely admits childhood life for both his sister Hanu and him was a humble but caring upbringing. His father Uthaya kumar was a mechanic, his mother Punitha played an important role in family life as a homemaker. Like most people’s life Murali’s pathway was no exception and was very much a criss-cross affair, but despite the economic restrictions he faced he managed to put himself through higher education obtaining a bachelor’s degree with a post graduate dip in counselling and a master’s in social work specializing in couples and family therapy. Murali is married to Rathika who supports her father to run the family food business.

For the past decade Murali has been supporting, in a professional capacity, people to cope with life’s many challenges through various counselling strategies. For Murali these strategies involve various mediation practices to get people to examine and explore their inner consciousness’ to achieve both mental and spiritual healing drawn from his own empirical knowledge of martial arts, meditation and various yoga technics. Everyday he meditates and practices raja or kriya yoga to bring about a spiritual peace before heading off to counsel clients.

It would be fair enough of me to say that his book which he sees as a spiritual guidebook to merge peoples inner light with cosmic light- hence the subtitle- is very much drawn from both his personal and theoretical experiences. I have to say he has some very interesting viewpoints, so if you’re a person who already practices this lifestyle, I think you’ll be fascinated to read his book to unearth and digest his views, but to others like myself who don’t follow this way of life, I still recommend you read the book but keep an open mind for Murali has some interesting observations.

    Check out our conversation here!

The book itself has thirty-six chapters and the topical range he covers is phenomenal, just to give you an example he talks about creative elements of existence in the human body, metaphysical sleep, meditation in all its formats, the stages of consciousness, the purpose of self-reflection and many, many more fascinating areas within the realm of cosmic romance with existence. I certainly found his book both eye-catching and eye-opening, I even learnt what Cosmic Light was and what Murali refers to when he talks about “Existence.”

This was an enthralling read for me. Well done and thank you Murali.

When I spoke with David before doing this Podcast, I got the sense that this book of his was
a labour of love but at times an arduous affair, similar in away to David’s own life. Is it a
book to cuddle up in bed with, definitely not, nor was it written with that intention, this is a
book for me that has been written to stir the mind. Having read the book my impression is
that this is a series of informed statements gathered together expressing the opinions and
observations of the author David about the economic and social well-being of modern
society and all the issues and challenges that currently dominate our headlines.

This book is interestingly written, well worth flicking through the pages to see the
viewpoints of a man who has certainly seen life from the edge in all its forms. The dates in
the book are the days David compiled the text.

Thank you, David, for giving me the opportunity of getting some way into the mindset of a
person who sees life from a very different perspective.

  • Linkages by Elaine Chandler-Harris

Elaine Chandler-Harris can be described as quite an accomplished woman in her own right, for when you look at her life, she’s faced many challenges and has achieved many accolades, she holds a bachelor’s degree from Chicago State University, post-education credits in Media Communications, and a master’s degree in Education Administration from National-Louis University. In her professional life she taught languages and reading to middle grade students in high school. Outside of education she worked in public relations. Turning to her personal life Elaine is a great grandmother, she has one son Gregory, three grand children and two great Grandchildren. Elaine currently lives in Chicago Illinois in the U.S.

Writing has played a significant role in Elaine’s life; she sees herself as a free-spirited freelance writer who likes to dip her toes into various genres. While this book Linkages is her first novel, she has written articles that have been published in the Chicago Sun- Times Newspaper, Black Enterprise Magazine, and others. Elaine has dabbled with poetry and some of her poems have been published as compendiums in Chicago State, Illinois State and Jackson State Universities.

Check out our video chat here!

Elaine feels that she’s always had a creative mind and will indeed delve into mysteries of life that others might find intimidating, daunting, and dare I say disquieting. The book Linkages certainly falls into some of these areas as she tells this disturbing story of one highly dysfunctional family of Characters.

Linkages is a book that incorporates incest, murder, suicide, drug addiction, rape and molestation all with the confines of one Black African American family. The timeline of the book spans from the late 1930’s in Mississippi to Chicago in the 1960’s and what happens in Mississippi only reoccurs in Chicago, you’d be forgiven for thinking why didn’t this muddled up family learn from its misgivings in the first place and prevent at all costs repeat mis- happenings which would have avoided so much pain and physiological damage. An outsider would have run for the hills, why didn’t they. Maybe love is blind and maybe entrapment and controlling powers exists in many disguises in lots of families’ makeup, but of course those issues never see the light of day and are simply part of complex relationships that are endured for love.

Despite the turbulent lives Mamie, Spanky, Lottie, Raphael, Vicky, Teddy and Uncle Julian lead there is a positive ending, what that ending is, well you’ll simply have to read the book, for I’m not about to spill the beans here.

If you want more information about the author and the book you can head to Elaine’s webpage www.elainechandlerharris.com

To purchase the book you can go to Elaine’s webpage www.elainechandlerharris.com or her publishers webpage www.trafford.com search bookstore Elaine Chandler-Harris, or simply click the Amazon link below.

  • Love Conquers All: Spiritual Messages of Hope for our Despairing World. by Denise Bachrodt

Denise Bachrodt comes from a beautiful part of the world, Aspen a small town in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. Most of us of course identify Aspen as the world-famous ski resort patronized by the rich and famous, but for Denise it’s simply home, and yes, she loves to ski, but equally she enjoys the outdoor life, walking in the mountains on a warm summer’s day which gives her the time to reflect and meditate. Meditation is important to Denise as it gives her the opportunity to break away from the busy corporate IBM world and reflect on what really matters to her and that is listening to God and the messages, he has for her. This part of her life is fundamental to her very being, it’s her heart and soul, the key to her existence.

Subscribe with your favorite podcast player

    Apple PodcastsAndroidRSS

The book was written at a challenging and troublesome time in Denise’s life as she faced up to the difficulties of divorce and all the stress related issues associated with that controversy. Where does Denise’s faith originate? a faith she turns to daily, maybe the answer to that question lies deep within her Polish routes. I can only surmise when Denise was writing the book at such a discerning time did she feel the Lord had abandoned her and I immediately recall the prayer/poem ‘Footprints in the Sand’ – “ Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you would walk with me all the way, but I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why in times when I needed you the most, you should leave me.” The Lord replied,” My precious child, I love you, and I would never, never leave you during your times of trial and suffering. When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.” Or was her faith strengthened so much so the messages she received empowered her to write about them- hence the book.

So, let’s look at the book. The core of the book has 6 chapters and within each chapter is a collection of messages which for me are loosely based around the theme of the chapter.

Chapter 1 – Hope for a Despairing World

Chapter 2 – Love of All Mankind

    Chapter 3 – Our Future

Chapter 4 – Remaining in the Present Moment

Chapter 5 – How God Speaks to us. Do not Worry or Fret

Chapter 6 – God Speaks to us always and in all Ways

Check out our video chat here!

For me the messages within the general themes are significantly poignant/relevant as to what is going on in the world today, I found them thoughtful, beautifully written and executed. The reflective tones made be stop and think, is there hope in a despairing world?  is God in control? and is all the trouble and strife that we see going on around us part of God’s plan to make us see who we truly are?  Is he trying to show us the errors of our ways and that there is still time for mankind to adjust his ways before time is called? I hope so.

Denise thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk to you about yourself and the significant messages you have so lovingly created in this important book of yours. Let’s hope all those that read the book take something away from what you’ve said.

The Covid 19 pandemic has gripped the world but for Charlotte and Grant important and experienced Time Keepers they are also aware that another menacing threat looms in the background a threat that not only affects mankind but the very fabric of the Time Wraiths society. The Royals, ruling family of the wraiths are set on a path of revengeful retribution for what happened to them in the past.

Check out our video chat here:

Fixated with reprisal and the need to reaffirm his authority as the master ruler of the wraiths and tyrannise humans, the wraith king has re-established his links with evil wraiths and some twisted humans through telepathic means to free him and his family from the incarcerated predicaments they find themselves in. To initiate a new evil likened to one that destroyed the original wraiths society and space home and all the consequential fallout that ensued is the overall objective, but the king needs to tap in and feed off from unsuspecting Time Wraiths and humans.

With the ever-increasing danger, Charlotte and Grant suspect the King Wraith will harm their son L G, they turn to other Time Keepers and Wraiths for advice as to how best protect their son. However, their son has a secret protector a Time Wraith nobody knows about and is different to ordinary wraiths in many ways. The Royal King senses LG’S and his protector’s gifts and knows that those powers can be used against him, he needs to act quickly if he is to break free from his chains of incarceration and restore his evil reign once more. But in the final conflict who will win through, The Royals? the good Time Wraiths? mankind? the Time Keepers? Or will no one survive this ordeal?

Dr Penny Clauss known as P. Clauss in the writing fraternity, is a veterinary surgeon from Dallas, Texas. As a child she loved reading books, so much so she would create stories in her head but keep them there, thinking no one would be interested in her tales. How wrong she was. It wasn’t until years later that with encouragement from her husband David, a clockwork master, that she finally plucked up the courage to publish her writings. Let’s just say thank goodness she did, for her books are beautifully manuscripted with intriguing and at time spine-tingling thoughts and storylines. Penny has dipped her toe into various genres from illustrated Children’s stories to Christian devotionals and lately science fiction and dark fantasy.

Junio Carols lives in Yorkshire one of the most scenic counties in the UK. She’s married has two daughters, now five grandchildren some of whom live on the east coast of the US in the Boston area. In addition to what I’ve just said, she has four stepchildren one of whom Tom has done illustrations for the bestselling international author Philip Pullman, an author which both myself and Junio follow intently. Not to mention the cats of course.

The story is set in the Yorkshire Dales a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, an area well known to Junio. Very often most writers place their book settings in familiar surroundings, as is the case here.

Dingle Dell is the tiny hamlet snuggled neatly among the dale’s hills. From the outset the hamlet reflects as you would expect, a scene of tranquillity, serenity and peacefulness, but the lives of the residents who reside there is far from halcyon to say the least. It would be easy for me to give the plot away, but that’s not the exercise of this podcast. The concept is to give you a tantalizing taste of what lurks within the pages, sufficient for you to click the Amazon link below and read the book which is available in both paperback and eBook formats.

For me there is no main protagonist or antagonist characters to speak of, more an eclectic bunch of characters who have their own unique peculiar traits, oddities and definitely dark secrets. Secrets is the operative word here for when you read the book you’ll unearth, deception, blackmail, unrequited affairs, poisonings, discreet sexual fetishes, embezzlement, dysfunctional relationships and other sinister happenings that take place behind closed doors. So, this quiet sleepy little hamlet set in rural idyllic Yorkshire isn’t what it seems.

This book I found an easy read with lots of twists which you would expect in a good book. Definitely a page turner for me. A book to read on a warm summer’s afternoon with strawberries and cream, and a glass of wine to hand.

The book is available on Amazon, and publishers www.authorhouse.com bookstore search Junio Carols-Bittersweet Neighbourhood.

Thank you Junio for giving me the opportunity to review your book and to get to learn a little bit about you as a writer.

  • WE ARE “THE MY PEOPLE” IN THE BIBLE By Carl Jones

Carl Jones is a pastor of the street in the Dallas Forth Worth area of Texas, in the U.S.A. Like most of us he has faced challenging times in his life as well as good times, and his spiritual life has reflected his own personal life with highs and lows. However, despite everything he has endured his faith in Elohiym (Hebrew for God) has never wavered since the age of twelve. But he does acknowledge that some of the paths he has gone down can be construed as hesitant at best.

Subscribe with your favorite podcast player

    Apple PodcastsAndroidRSS

Carl has six children he’s worked for SBC, GTE, Verizon and Walmart. He’s been connected with several church denominations and has acquired a vast spiritual background from the teachings of numerous pastors and evangelists who have steered him to becoming mature in Christ. Believing he was saved in his eyes at such a tender age and with God’s continuing support Carl vehemently concludes that Elohiym is at the heart of his life based on biblical scriptures, prophecies that have been fulfilled and still to be fulfilled. A replaced earth is very much in the upper mind of Carl’s thinking based again on biblical citations, he references to climate change, pollution, debt, food issues all contributing to earth’s demise, we need to reset our approach to everything.

In Carl’s foreword he starts with saying,” this book can be shocking, debated and criticised by some, and to others, it may not be. You have the wonderful choice to accept this information research or just stay in your status quo like the people in the movie The Matrix. In the movie they didn’t realise what had happened, but they were blinded by a lie. And only a few selected souls knew the truth.” A powerful opening gambit you might say. Carl goes on in his foreword to challenge your long held traditional views, some points you might take issue with, others you might want to reflect and do your own research.

This book is not a book you cuddle up in bed with, it’s not meant to be, it’s a book that turns traditional Christian ideology on its head. If you have an open mind and are prepared to view a religious concept with a different viewpoint you might find Carl’s book intriguing at the very least. To those who have a closed mind when it comes to religious origins, I fear you might find this book confrontational. But either way have a read and draw your own conclusions. Just to give you a brief insight into Carl’s world I quote,” I am Hebrew. I no longer believe in Christmas, Halloween, and Good Friday and Easter. Christ did not die on Friday. Some people may feel I am crazy, but I am quite in a good mindset. These are pagan holidays and not holy days.”

If you want to order/purchase a copy of Carl’s book which is available in paperback or ebook formats you can click the Amazon link below. Alternatively, you can head to www.Xlibris.com or [email protected] bookstore search Carl L Jones.

  • UNSUNG PATRIOTS:  African Americans in America’s Wars

Dr Eugene DeFriest Bétit’s comprehensive historical study of America’s troubled past relative to Africa Americans over the past four hundred years is enlightening, informative, and quite simply mesmerizing. The research behind this book took Dr. Betit five years, but it took him another four years to bring the book to publication. However, he did write a further three books during those four years in a similar vein to Collective Amnesia, so perhaps we might let him off with the length of time it took to complete this masterpiece.  For a white man to delve into and expose the issues that Blacks endured was at times hard for him to envisage let alone write about, nevertheless, he did so, and the result is this remarkable chronicled publication impeccably written taking one on such a journey that for me was simply jaw-dropping.

Subscribe with your favorite podcast player

    Apple PodcastsAndroidRSS

One of America’s “original sins” has been its convoluted issue around race relationships.  For more than four hundred years America has struggled with racism, white supremacy, and how to co-exist with the African American community as well as other minority groups. Race was invented to justify the enslavement of Africans, who were brought over from Africa and sold to rich white supremacists as cheap labour to work the plantations, especially the cotton plantations. America today still faces endemic racism and the tensions between the white and black communities very often spill over onto America’s streets as acts of violence. A far cry some would say from President Thomas Jefferson’s pronouncement in the Declaration of Independence that,” all men are created equal.” Surely awareness and education play a major part in tackling racial inequalities something America’s founding forefathers envisaged. How did America find itself in this difficult place? Well let’s look at Dr Eugene DeFriest Bétit’s book.

Collective Amnesia takes you right back to the slave trade through the devastation of the Confederacy, followed by Emancipation and Reconstruction, The Freedmen’s Bureau, Race Laws and Segregation, the two world wars and The Great Migration, The Civil Rights movement up to the present-day tensions seen across America. All viewed from a black African American perspective by a white man!

Here are some of the testimonials he has received:

“An important book for all Americans who want to know the whole of American history. Dr Bétit chronicles the entire 400-year story of African slaves and their American descendants from colonial times to today. This book primarily focuses on the trials and tribulations of that long journey; a journey that must be learned by each new generation of both blacks and whites. Here in one book, today’s Americans can come to know that story.”

    Dennis J. Quinn

Colonel, US Army (RET) and Former Instructor, National War College.

“Gene Betit’s deeply researched book describes various difficulties blacks experienced trying to achieve a place in white society when, even in modern times, acceptance has been grudging. However, the military has proven the black soldier equal to the white, and many of the civilian occupations are starting to open for them. The full integration of the nation, and thus our potential, can only be achieved when perceived ethnic, cultural, religious, and racial differences are subjugated, and that we realize that we are one people.”

    Jim Locke

    Lieutenant-Colonel, USA (RET)

“Collective Amnesia is both a testament of one people who refused to remain under-trodden and a reminder of how quickly others forget. Gene Bétit traces this duality throughout our history and concludes that the amnesia is simultaneously convenient and contrived. However, we forget at our peril, as this blindness continues to damn us as a nation. A must-read for those courageous enough to face facts and emerge from the matrix of ignorance.”

Dr. Rodney Coates, Ph.D. Professor Miami University Global and Intercultural Studies Sociology, Gerontology and Social Justice Coordinator of Black World Studies.

Gene Bétit sees himself as an author, historian, and military intelligence analyst, go to his website www.genebetit.com to learn more about the man behind this incredible book that has been so masterfully compiled to give you a glimpse into America’s past from a black African American’s perspective. When you go to his website you will see all the other books he has written.

The dedication of the book is:

    Freedmen and slave

Who stood by the Union in her time of trial

    And to their descendants

    Who kept the faith

Unsung Patriots: African Americans in America’s Wars

The Publishers will be at the time of recording this podcast Stackpole Press, which specialize in military affairs. They are a subsidiary of Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group.

In brief, both books are a synthesis of more than 150 historians’ work. Unsung Heroes has eight chapters which describe events that were not taught in primary or secondary school, because the tragic events that unfolded were acutely embarrassing, and not in keeping with polite etiquette deemed proper for young ears. If racism and hate are to be eradicated from the American psyche, it is important surely that actual history is brought to light. It is equally important that African Americans’ achievements on the battlefield are recognized.

Thank you once again Gene for another fascinating insight into your world of writing.
