This week the gals talk about updates on cases they've previously covered and share a couple of wild recent events in true crime. Jeepers Creepers!

Ash gives updates on the cause of death of Love Has Won cult leader Amy Carlson (episode 53), and DNA testing in the JonBenét Ramsey case (episodes 34 and 35). Cam goes over recent news in Maura Murray's case (episode 15) and a couple suspects who've been brought to light in the murders of Abigail Williams and Liberty German (episode 56).

Ash also talks about a recent fire in Boulder, CO that burned down nearly 1,000 homes, that may have been started by the Twelve Tribes cult. She also tells of two random subway murders that kicked off the new year in NYC.

This week the gals talk about murderer Luka Magnotta. Jeepers Creepers!

Cam covers Eric Clinton Kirk Newman AKA Luka Rocco Magnotta, the infamous subject of Netflix's Don't F**k with Cats. After several failed attempts at gaining fame in more conventional manners, like modeling contests and starting rumors about himself dating a serial killer, Magnotta began filming himself killing kittens, and posting the videos to Facebook to get the attention that he so craved. But once that insatiable longing for fame couldn't be quelled, he decided to make a snuff film called "1 Lunatic, 1 Icepick" (which was uploaded onto the actual internet) with an unfortunate human victim, Jun Lin.

TW: this episode does contain some discussion of animal cruelty, not very graphic at all, but it is mentioned.

This week the world's most dangerous theme park, Action Park aka Class Action Park. Jeepers Creepers!

Ash covers Vernon, New Jersey's '80s-'90s theme park, Action Park. Park owner "Uncle Gene" Mulvihill designed the rides himself with no engineering expertise whatsoever, was in cahoots with the mafia, and had a bunch of drunken teenagers running the theme park that was built to be extreme, but with no maintenance or safety precautions whatsoever. Over the course of the 18 seasons that Action Park was open, it saw at least six deaths and thousands of serious injuries. The majority of the deaths were related to the dangerous and filthy state of the unmaintained water rides; but most of the injuries came from the brutal burn of the alpine slides, with sleds in which the brakes rarely worked, and which had no protective barriers anywhere near them.

Ash covers the most famous cannibal from the state where she lives, Colorado! Alferd or Alfred Packer, history is unclear, was a prospector and "wilderness guide" during the 1800s. Packer led five men on a deadly trek into the snowy Colorado mountains, a trip from which none of them would return. Was he a mad murderer or was he just really incompetent with his wilderness skills? Did Packer murder them for financial gain? Or was the fella just hungry? TW: This week we discuss the brutal murder and torture of enslaved persons in the U.S. in the 1800s. Upon further research (unfortunately after the recording of the episode), Ash found that "slave" is no longer a politically correct term, but it is used throughout the episode. If that word or the subject matter is particularly upsetting to you, you might want to skip this one.


This week the gals discuss infamous socialite and serial torturer and murderer of enslaved people, Delphine LaLaurie. Jeepers Creepers!

You may know who today's story is about if you're a fan of American Horror Story, and especially if you watched Season 3, Coven! Ash takes you back to the Deep South of the 1800s. The slave trade was booming and the brutal mistreatment of enslaved people was rampant. It was common for slave owners to treat their enslaved people particularly savagely for fear of uprising. But one woman in particular took that practice to a whole new level of depravity. Madame LaLaurie was a socialite and central figure in New Orleans high society, but rumors had long circulated about her treatment of her enslaved people. When a fire broke out at 1140 Royal Street on April 10, 1834, first responders found a 70 year old woman chained to the stove by her ankle, with a deep wound in her head, and people would soon find out the extent to which she tortured, and inevitably murdered, many of her enslaved people.

Ash talks about the pyramid scheme that blew up in the mid 2000s thanks to their "buttery soft" leggings that came in crazy patterns and apparently fit everyone like a glove (even according to Cam's mom!). LulaRoe offered women, mostly young mothers, the promise of working part-time from home, for full-time income and the ability to be with their kids. But the family-owned business grew faster than anyone imagined, and storage and greed problems caused the smelly leggings epidemic, which led to dozens of lawsuits and hundreds of lives ruined. Join us as we dive into the incredibly insidious world of MLMs.
