After struggling with anxiety for most of my life, I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder in my early 20s, and I’ve had my fair share of tough times battling it and trying to overcome it. Although I’m not “cured” and still struggle with anxiety sometimes, my life has dramatically improved since practicing and implementing the six things I’m sharing in this episode (please note: I am NOT a doctor, a therapist or any sort of healthcare professional and am simply sharing what’s worked in my own life!).
I’m sharing my journey and the tools that have made it possible for me to improve my mental health in hopes that it helps you feel less alone, especially if you’re struggling or suffering, while also inspiring you to take incredible care of yourself – you deserve it.
In this episode, I cover:
My personal experience with anxiety and why I’m talking about it [1:25]
The impact of sleep on mental health (and why you MUST prioritize your sleep) [5:38]
How self-compassion and being less critical of myself continues to help me reduce my anxiety levels [11:35]
The importance of being your own “nice manager” [16:15]
Why going to therapy was a game-changer for me [19:25]
The ways in which supplements including Protea Nutrition’s Stress Defy and Baseline have helped me [24:10]
How a low dose of anxiety medication significantly improved my life and reduced my physical symptoms of anxiety [29:20]
Purposefully disconnecting from social media as often as possible [32:48]
Making time to play [38:45]
