The demand for mental health treatment among Americans has nearly doubled over the past two decades, indicating both a significant recent decline in mental health and an increase in access to virtual care, along with a positive trend toward destigmatization. Gallup polling shows that in 2004, only 13% of adults reported visiting a therapist, psychiatrist, or other mental health professional in the past year, compared to 23% in 2022. I’m part of that 23%, and in this episode, I discuss the best advice I’ve received from my therapist.
