Carnell Tate has been a breakout star of Ohio State's season, while Jeremiah Smith still is tied for second among power conference receivers in catches and is eighth in yards.
On this episode of The Bill and Doug Show, they really dig into Smith's season from several angles:
* How often is he the first read?
* Contested catches
* Slot usage
* Ohio State's slow pace of play
* Was he 100 percent healthy against Wisconsin Ohio State fans are talking about the Buckeyes' top two receivers, so we are, too.

Is the number of college football teams that can actually win the national title something like six teams? Is it more? Closer to 10? On this episode of The Bill and Doug Show, Bill Landis and Doug Lesmerises are joined by old friend Ari Wasserman of On3 to discuss national title contenders. Each gives the number of their list, then they run through all the teams, agreeing and disagreeing on whether they can actually win it all. Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin has the third-best Heisman Trophy odds in betting markets, but isn't viewed as that kind of candidate at the moment among much of the college football media. On this episode of The Bill and Doug Show, it's time to compare Sayin to other candidates like Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza, Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia and Alabama QB Tyler Simpson and discuss what too many people are missing. It's college football rants, starting with the ESPN College GameDay interview of fired Penn State coach James Franklin on Saturday. Doug Lesmerises is tired of college football media culture that puts coaches on a pedestal until they are fired, and then treats them as victims. Then it's onto the number of fired coaches so far this season and how that compares to the number of playoff teams. Finally, Doug admits he didn't see Alabama going 6-1, but he warns anyone who is getting too smug about the Tide's success. And then he recounts ripping the SEC in other ways. Thanks as always for joining The Bill and Doug Show.
