As the next general election hour glass starts to shift, Americans ponder to make their stance on being conservative or liberal. These terms are normally associated with citizens falling on either side of dichotomies associated with race, political affiliation, age and other ways people tend to segregate and associate with each-other. Conservatism is normally associated with “retaining traditional social institutions” or as some may see it, natural selection. Conservatism has historically been associated with the dominate white male, ruling his society through laws, education and employment. And, guaranteeing all due process. The liberal on the other hand is associated with the opposite, so much so that the term conservative scares and intimidates them. We beg to differ, there is a significant sample of the population who sees themselves as conservative, and don’t fit the traditional demographic mode, nor are they locked in on either side of the dichotomy; they simply want an informed society. Today we talk with two conservative citizens, Darryl Wilson and Montez Diamond of the non-partisan Conservative Alliance who simply want just that, an informed society. We discuss the dilemma associated with conservatism, being conservative, and a major event that serves to inform society, the Georgia Conservative Summit.

Darryl Wilson
A staunch advocate of conservative America in the tradition of abolitionist Douglass and civil rights movement. A military brat, he traveled throughout the country and abroad, learning every nuance of freedom and subject to various shades of bigotry and bias. Darrell graduated from Kentucky State University, he went on to become the first KSU graduate to become a combat qualified Naval Aviator, and served 9 years as an Division Officer, flight instructor, he now flies as Captain at one of the largest airlines in the world. Father of 4, he and his family have resided in and served communities from Pensacola, Florida to Tuskegee, Alabama to Denver, Colorado and now makes his home in the north suburbs of Atlanta. If there was ever someone that “gets it”, who has seen and witness life’s ups and downs and has vision beyond the normal harmonies and discords of the daily grind, it is this man. He continues to take the road less traveled and to influence individuals and institutions alike, to never give up, never say die, and to always strive to be a more perfect union.

Ambient is a very difficult topic to discuss that however needs to be addressed, the problem is that it’s nearly impossible to converse on it without conveying anger and racism. Let’s face it, the last year and a half or so has been simply perilous for African American Men. Even more frightening for this demographic is that the peril faced has at times (most certainly media attention garnering) been at the hands of those chartered with “protecting and serving” them and society in general. Couple this with a permeating self-destructive culture, and the result is that they are being sucked up by a soul stealing zombie and seeing each other at the “Crossroads” (Bone Thugs N Harmony), “So Many Tears” (Topac Shakur), are shed regularly. Also contributing to the soup are TV shows like the “The Wire” that glorify and condition a mindset of self degradation and that they, or we are a demographic at the bottom of the societal food chain.
As a father and African American male, I struggle with determining a positive way to approach the problem of dealing with authority or law enforcement.
Normally my approach tends to be from an intellectual view and standpoint, however, intellectualism is not an adjective normally associated with the demographic in peril, it’s a dilemma that simply discourages a man of my stature. This frustration surfaces because when these scenarios occur, one can’t help but feel helpless, or belittled. Nonetheless, the interactions and exchanges between authorities and African American Men aren’t always dangerous or perilous. To demonstrate and expound on this I bring in two gents to discuss this matter, my sons: Marcus & Andrew Benson. They have firsthand, recent experience in dealing with an altercation with police in the state of Georgia. The great thing is that even though this could have been a cantankerous encounter, they are here to talk about it, without citation or further encounter with authorities. They share this story, our discussion extends beyond this experience to the state of affairs and dealing with the perception of the African American Male in general.
I also post a discussion topic relating to this on my blog:

Heard the song(s) “You Get What You Give” (New Rascals); “Nothing Comes to Dreamers but a Dream” (Gap Band); and “Ain’t no Half-Steppin” (Heatwave)? They all allude to, there is something in you that is destined to surface. This is provided you do what it takes to get there, or perhaps a fateful event leads you to a path to “get what you give”. Some of us end up doing and perhaps becoming great at something we never thought we’d do. Candy Lightner, out of personal tragedy founded perhaps one of the most influential lobbyist organizations in Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), and John Walsh out of similar tragedy founded “America’s Most Wanted”. Today we chat with, Fredia “The Cheetah” Gibbs who transformed herself into the “The Most Dangerous Woman in the World” because she hated violence, fighting and being bullied. In “where are they now” fashion “The Cheetah” discusses her ascending to pugilistic greatness, honors, accolades, and future projects including her autobiography.
Fredia “The Cheetah” Gibbs (learn more about her here or visit her Facebook page) – Originally from Chester, PA, growing up in the Fairground Community was tough for Gibbs who was constantly being bullied by neighborhood kids and classmates. Since her mother taught her not to fight back, Gibbs frequently found herself running from neighborhood peers. When she wasn’t running from bullies, she became an All American & Most Valuable Player in basketball and track, appropriately earning her the nickname “The Cheetah.”
Immediately after high school, she attended Temple University on two athletic scholarships, for basketball and track. She later attended Cabrini College on a basketball scholarship as well. A highly skilled and accomplished player, she was invited to the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs where she tried out for the women’s USA Olympic Basketball Team, she was a Kodak All American for three consecutive years at Cabrini College where she majored in Marketing. She later went on to play professional basketball in Germany, averaging a triple double (30 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists). A Chester High School “Basketball Hall of Fame” inductee, she used her athletic ability, honed discipline and dedication from Martial Arts to become the greatest female fighter on the planet and now delights in the associated perks.

Historic behaviorists and psychologists toiled to determine the triggers of an individual’s perception of their place in and view of their surroundings. Certainly, we want to believe there is a cookie cutting process that guarantees the traditional outcome, outcome to the end of heterosexual normalcy, at least we all hope. Conversely and perhaps controversially a substantial sample of the population doesn’t see themselves as “OK” or their surroundings as “OK” as they fit in it. Herein lies sources of complexity and possible sexuality confusion, to an extreme extent personal identity or transexualism: choosing to become a person of the opposite sex. It’s an individual choice, or is it? Enter the parent, and others affected by the decision of someone to become “transsexual”, or “transgender”. Today we talk to the parent of a Transgender young adult , Mrs. Rolanda Schmidt, PhD. Dr. Schmidt, a survival story in her own right vents, and discusses challenges of being the parent of a self proclaimed Transgender adult, while simultaneously parenting her other children. She also breaks the news about her soon to be released book “7 Things You Should Know Before They Play the Game”. Her book offers hints on possible prevention and signs to look for. She discusses how she strives to envision herself as OK in a world that might not be OK unless changes are made.

Rolanda Schmidt, formerly Rolanda Delamartinez, born and raised in Florida and moved to the Midwest two decades ago. Raised by her father and bonus mom in a very religious home, she experienced trouble in what seemed like a childhood paradise when she was kidnapped and abused at the tender age of 12. After surviving that tumultuous ordeal; being reunited with her father and stabilizing her life, she married at the tender age of 18, and gave birth to her first child (show subject). These experiences shaped the woman she is today and taught her the importance of living in truth. She uses these experiences to season her public speaking engagements; specifically advising followers to put God first, take positive action, and “believe in others before they believe in themselves”.
Rolanda’s motto: Each day feels like a new tomorrow. Thanks to the self-sacrificing efforts of her husband, children/bonus children, friends, family, and mentors: Rolanda L. Schmidt is an entrepreneur, author, scholar, motivational speaker, and community servant. Her greatest joy is being a Christ follower, wife, mother/bonus mom. Everyone needs friends, it’s all too common knowledge that when 2 or more come together in agreement Jehovah cannot help but hear. There is most certainly strength in numbers; it takes a village to raise a child, I know this all too well as I am at times a lousy loner. Also at times there are those want to help and cannot and, those who can and will not. There are some nonetheless who possess the gift of charisma, magnetism, influence, and creativity and develop a means to meet the needs of others, galvanize. Today we talk with Steve Harvey Neighborhood Award Nominee, who is also the developer, orchestrator and CEO of one of the greatest philanthropic networks in the world, Simply United Together (S.U.T.); Honorary Doctor, James Jones, Jr. Mr. Jones shares his motivation, goals and causes he and his organization is dedicated to and determine to further.

Ever notice people how some people never seem to fit in? It’s difficult to categorize them less the obvious demographic they belong to, put them in a box or make them stay in their lane. In most cases I’ve seen and know of (self included), this dilemma is because they are not supposed to fit in, fall in and conform. Rather, they are meant to stand out. And, not stand out in the cold, alone, ostracized or isolated. They are meant to use their Jehovah delivered talents to get behind, or out in front of a cause. They are meant to pull together and orchestrate the activities of many with like interests, goals and objectives. Today we talk with accomplished and renowned singer, songwriter, author, evangelist and motivational speaker Deborah “Debra” Hightower. Debra uses her Jehovah delivered talents and influence to get behind the fight against the “oldest profession”, prostitution and other problems plaguing our society. Mixing ministry with business and turning ministry into business appears to be an ever evolving experience or enterprise. Far more evangelists are emerging as folk heroes and outright stars. The mantra of spirited sermons, documented antidotes and appropriately timed bible verses have made the T. D. Jakes(s), Creflo Dollar(s), Jole Olsteen(s) and Joyce Meyers(s) of the world (or their ministries) multimillionaires. At the extreme end, they become movie producers and recently, at nearly mockery proportions the “Preachers of LA” appear to satisfy the self serving end of religious spiritual peddling. But, then again, there are those who use their ministry for its intended purpose, to galvanize. Today we talk with “The Galvanizer” Apostle Rachel Watson of Kingdom Consultants.
Apostle Rachel Watson
A Galvanizer is defined as one who inspires others. It means to arouse or stimulate action. This term aptly describes Apostle Rachael Watson. At the age of 15 years old, came to understand that her purpose was to help others. She strives to walk in her purpose daily by inspiring, encouraging and motivating others to live a fulfilled life through Developing and growing in a personal walk with God and Pursing their Purpose. She challenges them to overcome obstacles to their purpose by addressing the “giants in their land” head on. Fear, Doubt, Poverty, Rejection, Approval Addiction and more hinder and prevent many from going forward into the greatness and destiny that God has awaiting them in their purpose and she deems it her mission to help them overcome them all.
Her purpose is exemplified in every facet of her life’s work. As a preacher and Co-Founder of Word & Spirit Kingdom Training Center, she and her husband Apostle Michael Watson teach and encourage listeners to discover their Identity in the Kingdom of God so that they may take full advantage of the rights, benefits and privileges that Kingdom Citizenship affords them. Ever wonder where some of those child movie stars are? A few of them continue their careers on into adulthood; seasoned, experienced and selective about assignments, affiliations and sustained acquaintances. One issue for them is that when we see them, we tend to forget that they are real people, dealing with dreams and realities like the rest of us. Today we “Hob Nob” with a guy we know as “Cockroach” from the “Cosbys”, and “Cole” from “Martin”, the accomplished entertainer Mr. Carl Payne. We get into Carl’s head on the serious side and discuss the industry, his initiatives and parenting; don’t fret, there is also plenty of humor…
