Ian's journey began as a volunteer firefighter at just 16 years old. Inspired by the Scouts, he sought a community that would fill the void left by a tumultuous childhood. "I wanted to help people," Ian reflects, emphasizing that the desire to serve is a common thread among firefighters. He described how the firehouse offered a sense of belonging, camaraderie, and purpose during a time when he felt lost.

After years of dedicated service, Ian transitioned to a career in real estate but never lost touch with his roots in the fire service. In 2014, he co-founded the Brotherhood Buffs, a collective of firefighters known for their strong camaraderie and the phrase, "Go get 'em, brothers."
