Daniel “Chunk” Nelms is a second-generation fireman, currently working in the Nashville (TN) F.D., where he is currently assigned to 32 Truck on the eastside of the city. Chunk has also served as a volunteer in various departments since his childhood, from Rookie up to Training Officer. Chunk brings 20 years of fire service experience from small town volunteer fire departments to a large urban metropolitan FD, and anything in between. Chunk has instructed at conferences and fire departments across the country and has been published in a  few fire service trade magazines. Chunk’s passion for the job is only surpassed by the love for God and his family. Chunk is a proud Christian, husband (Emily) and father (Jackson, Noah, and Baby Girl coming in September-ish).

Dan is about as humble as they come, Dan comes from a strong background of firefighters. He's learned incredible life lessons from his father and older brother Trey. We have a great conversation on truck work vs engine work, team work to fulfill the mission of search and remembering a great man..his father.

Nathan Harpster or as many might know him by his instagram handle: NaterVision, has been helping firefighters get in shape with his work out routines on instagram.

Nate is a family man with two daughters and a wonderful wife. He's been on the job for 20 years in Phoenix and was a volunteer for 5 years in a small town called Grand Island New York, where he fell in love with the craft and profession of firefighting. For the Last 13 years he has worked on the back seat of Engine 2 out of station 1....The Big House in downtown Phoenix. Nate is also a Technical Rescue and Medic. Nate has a huge passion for fitness this job and promoting the idea that it takes work, effort and commitment to have a long healthy career and and more importantly a long and healthy retirement.

Nate and I talk about fitness and longevity within the fire service, adapting your work outs when you get slammed at the station, the importance of working out in gear, eating right and mental health .

Chief Clyde Gordon was on of the many fantastic presenters that made the experience at the NorthEastern Fire Summit in Wells,Maine one not to be forgotten.

Chief Gordon is extremely passionate about making the fire Service better for others. Chief Gordon's presentation is filled with life lessons that he learned while coming up in the fire service for the City of Houston. Chief talks about the value of proper PPE, being well trained, physically able and capable to do the job and treating others with respect. Chief Gordon delivers a raw and emotional speech about his life, hardships, successes and helping others in need. Matty Johnson is a very amazing and humble brother. Matty Johnson is a firefighter from Florida as well as a FOOL member. Matty presented his story of his struggle with addiction and how it actually killed him. His presentation is raw and real. It takes a lot of courage and balls to speak to a room full of strangers and talk about the lowest points in your life. Warning..this video and audio has been released with Matt Johnson's permission and to keep his message in it's purest form, it was not edited. This is a truly moving presentation of Matt's life and I hope you all get something out of it. Thank you Matty for being so open and honest, and for allowing me to bring it to all of you.

Battalion Chief Eric Wheaton is a second-generation firefighter for the WinterPark (FL) Fire Department and has served with WPFD since 2007. Eric spent the majority of his career on the Truck Company prior to his promotion to Battalion Chief and serves on the Winter Park Fire Department Technical Rescue Team. He is the Owner of VentEnterSearch, LLC. and is an instructor for the Truck Company Operations program at Valencia College Central Florida Fire Institute. Eric has taught at many fire conferences across the country, including FDIC. He also serves as an advisory board member on the UL-FSRI Size-up and search rescue study. Sometimes you just need to get your story out. It's not all about tactics and strategies, but personal struggles and success. My platform rose from the ashes of my failures and struggles in life and in my career. I have met many people who have had some of the same issues that I have had. Each personal experience is different, but the lesson is the same. Strength,determination and growth. I am proud to be able to give those who want to tell their story a platform to do so. My most recent guest speaks about his personal struggles and is very open and blunt about what he has been through and how he came out a better person for it.

I had the honor to sit down with Tim Griswold at the Northeastern Fire Summit in Wells,Maine. Tim has a lengthy history in the fire service, even though he is relatively young, he has been in the service before he could walk. His father brought him to his first call when he was just a child and the passion for the fire service has been with him ever since. Tim Griswold is a generational firefighter. His family has been involved with the fire service for a very long time. Tim has dedicated his body and mind to be the best he can for the people that he serves and for his department.

Tim and I dive into some areas where he was at his lowest and we also talk about the lessons learned. I am proud to call Tim a friend and I'm so happy to watch him succeed. I hope you enjoy learning about Tim and some valuable lessons on not judging a book by it's cover. Nozzle Tov!

The weekend of March 14th, The New England FOOLs hosted the Northeastern Fire Summit in Wells,Maine.

I had an opportunity to sit down with David McElroy who is the NH Director and Cancer Mentor of the Firefighter Cancer Support Network. Not only does David work for FCSN, he serves as the Safety officer for the Northwood Fire Department as well. David talks about his own battle with cancer and how his fight has inspired him to help others. David truly cares about being there for others and educating firefighters of what the FCSN is and what they do. He is very passionate about firefighter safety and applying appropriate decon techniques after a fire or hazardous event. Thank you David for all that you do and for being so open with all of us. Marcos Orozco is passionate, driven, educated and humble! The man doesn't no the meaning of the word quit. Marcos has been dedicating his mind and body to the fire service and to make others better. Marcos has been doing workouts in his gear for over 15 plus years and has created programs for others to reach their potential. Marcos has been through some negative and dark times in his life, and instead of using that as an excuse to fail in life, he has used his experiences to thrive and to push others to succeed.

Marcos is extremely humble and down to earth. Marcos is also co-owner of True Grit Training, where they provide realistic “live fire” trainings as well as RIT and Search and Rescue classes in the Denver metropolitan area.

Marcos has been an instructor for over 11 years and travels all over the country teaching HOT classes and giving his lecture “Improving fire ground performance through fitness and mental fortitude”.

This was a wicked fun conversation and even though we had some technical difficulties during the interview...we preserved and got it done!

I had the honor of being invited to the Northeastern Fire Summit in Wells,Maine, hosted by the New England FOOLS. While I was there, I had the pleasure of meeting incredible people from all over New England, including Canada, Mississippi and New Jersey.

One of those incredible people where Chris Gray. Chris Gray is a Battalion Chief for Central Falls Fire Department in Rhode Island. BC Gray started as a volunteer/paid call firefighter in Lincoln R.I. where he was eventually hired as a career member. BC Gray started with the Central Falls Fire Department in 2004, and now serves as a Battalion Chief. BC Gray has served on the R.I. Urban Search and Rescue Taskforce, achieving the rank of Squad Leader. Became an Assistant Deputy State Fire Marshal Fire/Arson Investigator for R.I., Lead Instructor for the RI Fire Academy, owner and operator of Truck Co. Manifesto prop design and training company. BC Gray is a Member of the new England FOOLS, Board member and presenter for the International Association of Arson Investigators, which has led him to the field of Lithium Ion battery fires including EV/Hybrids.

BC Gray and I have a brief discussion on his background, how he came to investigating EV and lithium ion battery fires. His experience at the Station Nightclub fire and his own personal struggles with mental health and how to seek help. BC Gray, is one of the most humble and down to earth people that I have had the pleasure to meet. Thank you Chief for spending some time with me and telling us a little about yourself.
