Welcome to an extra special bonus episode! This is a wrap up of all of the books that I read in April, featuring an extra special guest: my sister. This month I read a short story collection, a non-fiction book, a Hogwarts Library book, and a book with lots of *witchy vibes*, plus a few more. I say “witchy vibes” way too much in this episode. Please excuse me.
The next discussion book is The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

Books I read in April:
Thank you for waiting an extra week for this episode! It took me ages to edit, but I’m very happy with how it’s turned out. This week, activist and artist (artivist) Kali and I discussed Watch Us Rise by Renée Watson and Ellen Hagan! We loved this book, and we hope you did too! We speak about growing as activists, styles of activism, and channelling activism into art. Kali also does a brilliant reading of one of the poems, and we basically just spend 45 minutes gushing about how great this book is.
Full transcription is available for download at this link.
The next book is The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
Welcome back! Due to some scheduling difficulties and the Easter weekend, I’ve decided to bring you another minisode this week instead of a full episode. This week, I’m talking all about my love for Harry Potter! I cover everything from why Hogwarts will always be my home to why J. K. R.’s magic system is so brilliant. I also read out some responses from the listeners! You guys had such interesting and wonderful things to say, thank you so much for participating!
A full transcription of this episode can be downloaded here.
Join me next week for a discussion on Watch Us Rise by Renée Watson and Ellen Hagan!

Welcome back! This week, I sat down with Bonnie (who also featured in episode 1) and we discussed our favourite female friendships in books. From Matilda and Miss Honey to Anne Shirley and Diana Barry, female friendships in books are so important and wonderful, and we loved recording this episode for you. Let us know your favourite female friendships in books!

Rik and Milly’s podcast: Yonks Ago
Hello and welcome back to The Community Library! In this week’s episode, Maija and I sat down and discussed Pulp by Robin Talley. We talked about the 1950s, the power of representation in books, and why Maija is definitely a Luna and I’m totally a Hermione. We also talked about the importance of recognising and appreciating the movements and battles that came before us, while still striving for change and equality. I hope you enjoy!
Content warning for the episode: During the discussion, Maija and I addressed the topics of homophobia and transphobia, suicide, death, and also the systematic violence against the queer community.
Join me next week for a minisode with Bonnie (remember her from episode 1?) in which we talk about our favourite female friendships in books.
The next discussion book is Watch Us Rise by Renée Watson and Ellen Hagan. I hope you read along and join in on the discussion!

Welcome to the first minisode! This week, I answered your questions about reading and the podcast! You'll discover which is my favourite Harry Potter book, how much I read in a week, and why I prefer buying books I've already read. I had a lot of fun, and thank you to everyone who asked questions on Instagram and Twitter.
Check out my website here for a list of all books mentioned in this episode, and a full transcription.

The next discussion book: Pulp by Robin Talley
Welcome to our very first episode! This week I sat down with Bonnie, former literature classmate and long-time friend, to discuss The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. We covered many topics: from what makes Atreyu such a great hero to why The Childlike Empress is not even a real person. We also talked about at length why Bastian is literally the WORST, and the importance of story-telling in our world.
Join me next week for a minisode, which is a Q&A episode! I'll be answering your questions about reading and the podcast.
In two weeks’ time, I will be discussing Pulp by Robin Talley with friend and literature-class-extraordinaire Maija! Please read along so you can join in the discussion!

Hello there! Welcome to The Community Library! I'm so glad you're here for this wonderful adventure.
The Community Library is a podcast, book club and discussion space, and my aim is for it to be as inclusive as possible! This podcast is for anyone interested in stories, and how and why we tell them. Every two weeks, I'm going to sit down with a guest to discuss a book, and every other week will be a minisode.
Next week, my friend Bonnie and I will be discussing The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. You might know the story from the popular 1984 film of the same name; but I would still encourage you to read along so you can join in the discussion!

Angourie (host)
Hello there! My name's Angourie Rice. I'm an actor, blogger, feminist, ex-literature student and now podcast host! Welcome to The Community Library: a podcast, book club and discussion space. Every two weeks, I'm going to sit down with a guest to discuss a book. We will talk about themes, issues, raised, diversity, language, world-building, characters, cover design and so much more interesting stuff. Every second episode will be a minisode. The minisodes will be kind of more personal - I'll address a discussion topic, do a Q&A, talk about what I'm currently reading. It'll be so much fun.
I wanted to start this podcast for many reasons, but mainly I wanted to share my love of reading and discussion of storytelling. I want The Community Library to be as inclusive as possible, because reading is for anyone and everyone. And so The Community Library is a space for anyone interested in stories, and how and why we tell them.
The name of the podcast itself actually comes from a way that people make sharing stories free and accessible. So, community libraries are also known as street libraries, and they are little boxes planted in someone's front yard that store books for the community to read and share for absolutely free.
The first episode will be a discussion with my friend Bonnie. She is a fellow ex-literature student and friend, and we will be talking about Michael Ende's 1979 novel The Neverending Story. This was also made into a very popular movie, um, so you might know the story from there. But, I would also encourage you to read along, and then we can talk about the book together.

You can follow The Community Library on instagram with the handle @the_community_library, or you can use the hashtag #thecommunitylibrary on instagram or twitter. You can listen to all of the episodes on your podcast platform of choice, and you can choose to subscribe and rate and review.
So thank you so much for listening, and I hope you'll join me in this new and exciting project. I can't wait to talk to you next week. Bye!
