Today, Dom led off the Dom Giordano Program by discussing the controversial situation that unfolded at a Hatboro pizzeria, with a woman facing charges after a racist rant went viral last week. Giordano discusses the situation itself, arguing why he does indeed believe a line is drawn on free speech when said speech starts to infringe on both businesses and other individuals. Then, Dom takes aim at a local organization, SEPTA, after an Inquirer article reported more delays in their purchase of new train cars from the Chinese Government, explaining why we should not be doing business with an enemy.
Then, Dom welcomes John McGrody, Vice President of Philadelphia’s police union, FOP Lodge 5, to discuss the results of the first year of the driving equity bill introduced by Philadelphia City Council which limits when police officers can pull over drivers. First, Dom asks McGrody how we should celebrate the anniversary of the launch of the bill, with McGrody suggesting we put up signs that say ‘you are now entering Philadelphia, these are the driving codes we don’t enforce.’ Then, Dom and McGrody dive into a discussion about the success or failure of the program, with McGrody explaining how the statistics truly point to an abject failure for the program. Then, Dom and McGrody discuss the need for police officers in Philadelphia, with McGrody explaining how city officials can help improve recruitment and the desire of officers to serve in Philadelphia. Finally, Dom and McGrody have a conversation about the Mayoral candidates in Philadelphia, with McGrody previewing when the FOP may make a decision in endorsing a candidate.
