In today’s second hour, Dom led off the Dom Giordano Program by discussing a Philadelphia Inquirer column about Chris Rock’s new Netflix special that took issue with a joke where Rock explained why he didn’t fight back against Will Smith, telling that his parents taught him, ‘don’t fight in front of white people.’ The column argues that this is an admittance of the comedian prioritizing the thoughts of white people over his own feelings, which causes Dom to respond about why jokes are important in moving forward society.

 Dom Giordano, WPHT host and former teacher, has dedicated much of his daily show toward parents who are taking it into their own hands to push back against school boards that have a negative impact on their children. This has culminated in a weekly podcast on education, Readin', Writin', and Reason, which has allowed wonderful relationships to develop between Giordano, educators, and parents throughout the country who are speaking out against overbearing school boards. 

First,  Dana Hunter joins the podcast to discuss our local school districts and how special interest groups are circling the boats waiting to strike with a lawsuit over policies implemented into the schools. One policy, in particular, is over the use of flags and how they should only be displayed to teach topics relevant to the class subject.

Then, Dom welcomes in Oscar Buynevich, a Temple University Senior, who’s been investigating the understaffing in Temple University’s police force. First, Buynevich explains why he personally has chosen to stay at Temple, saying that it’s not that he and other students are necessarily ‘scared,’ but many have become completely desensitized to the violence and open-air drug use on Temple’s campus. Buynevich takes us through what he learned about the struggle for Temple to offer its students a safe campus, explaining what Temple President Jason Wingard needs to do, including a focus on police officer retention and actually speak with his officers after many refusals to meet with union and officials on the force.

Then, Dom continues discussing an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer that dissects the first year under Philadelphia Councilman Isaiah Thomas’s Driving Equity Law, which limits the offenses that police can use to pull over drivers in an effort to supplant a racial disparity of traffic stops.

Then, Dom welcomes Congressman Jeff Van Drew back onto the Dom Giordano Program to discuss his trip down to the border where the congressman held hearings on the security at the border and the benefits of a border wall. Van Drew tells what he’s learned down at the border, explaining the importance to electronically and physically build a wall, hampering the ability for cartel members to traffic individuals, and the other tactics agents should be able to utilize to reduce illegal border crossings. Full Hour | Today, Dom led off the Dom Giordano Program by offering up news out of Harrisburg, revealing what’s in Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s new budget proposal, explaining how he sees Shapiro now twisting the issue of police staffing. In the new budget, Shapiro called for tax breaks for police officer, teachers, and nurses, which Dom argues is solely a political tool to add ‘helping police staffing’ to Shapiro’s repertoire of political ammunition. Then, Dom gets into a conversation about the separation of church and state, surprisingly revealing that he’s not too effusive about prayer in public schools after playing back a clip of New York City Mayor arguing that he does not operate under a separation of church and State. This leads Dom down a path of attack against the New York Mayor, who regularly propagated pro-Abortion stances. Then, Dom offer his opinion on the popularity of the Alex Murdaugh case, asking listeners to call-in and offer why they may be interested in it, as it doesn’t interest him in the least bit. In the letter sent to parents, Dr. McGarry writes, ‘Our staffs are worn out trying to provide our students the best they have to offer,’ explaining the negative implications of Coronavirus and a spike in crime outside school walls on the mental health of students. McGarry explains what he hopes to accomplish in sending the letter, and explains the importance of offering an environment that fosters the best education for students possible. Then, Dom takes some calls for listeners offering their opinion on the situation unfolding in Upper Darby, including a parent with a student in a district Middle School. Then, Dom tells of an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer that dissects the first year under Philadelphia Councilman Isaiah Thomas’s Driving Equity Law, which limits the offenses that police can use to pull over drivers in an effort to supplant a racial disparity of traffic stops.
