The Final Bell

Grains traded higher, before beans closed lower after a wild trade day for Friday. All about the weather & tariff’s. A report that usually comes with bated breath, but nothing terrible came of the numbers. HRW took a jump along with the rest of the wheat with trouble in Europe. Quarterly Stocks report-for corn what does that mean for feed demand…higher stocks on corn. Demand on new crop soybeans. Good day for livestock, nice to talk something positive on the hogs, but there are hurdles with tariffs looming.

Another low day in the grain markets. Weather, exports, Planting Intention & Stocks report on Friday & trade are all factors working into this grain market. Exports right now seeing some solid numbers. Can soybeans avoid the tariff increase July 6th.

More rain moving across the Midwest…upcoming prospective planting. Bean exports…growing this crop. A lot of negativity built into the market with USDA reports looming on Friday. Light cattle trade…still bearish on the cattle. Holiday trade mid-week. Moving more cattle to market early due to dryer pastures to the south. Hog fundamentals having a hard time separating from the trade news.

Weather related factors for the corn. Lower soybeans & wheat…did recover some because of the meal market…warmer weather is moving in that will bring stress to the crops. An Olive Branch from China to other Asian countries. Cattle market on the quieter side of the trade.

Don talks about the drop in soybeans, expected slip in soybeans but holding steady on the corn in the weekly crop progress report, continued trade concerns, wheat harvest issues and the 186,000 metric ton purchase of beans by an unknown. Limit down action in the meats today with the trade concerns, cattle on feed effecting the trade.

Soybeans end with some double digit gains. Look back on the week. How do we move forward with the corn. What do we need to look at going forward…prospective planting report out a week from today. Brazil trucker strike continues…where could the world turn for their supply. A neutral cattle with some cash taking place

Clint looks to the positive market factors that helped wheat and corn close in the green. Clint also looks at how much down side is there still in the soybeans and is a cap starting to form on cattle.

Green on the screen for grains…dead cat bounce in the trade on a Wednesday. Can’t be surprised by a market bounce. Good rains, some places to heavy. Corn doesn’t want to go down but struggles to move up. Could be an interesting report a week from Friday. Trade how much is blamed for the market trade. South American Trucker Strike…not good news for China with trying to buy beans. Cattle market readies itself for a cattle on feed report due out on Friday, also some limited long term direction & hogs had some lower limit down trade on the day.

Beans rebound a bit but still finish lower. Tough day for beans-but still priced competitive, corn traded positive for a part of the day. Low in place? Weekly Crop Report. The numbers are not as bad as they were a year ago on grain prices. Cattle closed to triple digits. Cattle on Freed report due out on Friday…could be a quiet report. Buyers backing away a bit today on the hog market.

Cattle market was a surprising day with the stronger cash market of late Friday, Monday morning show lists are much bigger-could see some lower money later this week. Decent stronger numbers are encouraging. But expect demand to see a decrease. Hogs finally had some good news with a look into the late fall-use this rally to get some marketing done. Grains for the most part have seen some good growing conditions, but beans broke a $1.30. Seeing some corn buying. Beans took a drop…is there hope? Rains are spotty all over the Midwest.
