*கருடன் சம்பா*

பாரம்பரிய நெல் வகைகளில் எல்லாத் தரப்பினரும் உணவுக்காகத் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கும் முதன்மையான நெல் வகை கருடன் சம்பா. கருடன் கழுகுக்குக் கழுத்தில் வெள்ளையாக இருப்பதுபோல், கருடன் சம்பா நெல்லின் நுனிப் பகுதியில் வட்டமான வெள்ளை நிறம் இருக்கும். வறட்சி, வெள்ளம் போன்ற இயற்கை சீற்றங்களைத் தாங்கி வளரக்கூடியது.
