The Howie Games

"It was pure terror. I've made this (Olympic) team, what have I done?"

A Howie Games favourite returns!

Since Cate last appeared on the show, she has won 3 more Olympic medals (2 gold and a silver), dealt with the stresses of a delayed Olympics, rebuilt herself in more ways than one, and continued to attack life.

In this episode, Cate talks candidly for the first time about how she had to take control of her mental health just prior to Tokyo. Yet another example of Cate’s leadership in the community and her importance as a role model.

Cate and her sister Bronte have a wonderful new book out for the younger audience called "Sister Secrets."

"If there's no attack, it just falls flat"

Greig Pickhaver (a.k.a H.G. Nelson) is a true star of the Australian entertainment landscape.

Roy and H.G. have dominated radio, tv and now podcasting for over 30 years.

Greig takes us back to the start of his journey and explains how comedy helped him through his early life, meeting John Doyle (Rampaging Roy Slaven), the keys to entertainment, and plenty more.

Check out H.G's new book, The Fairytale, a real and imagined history of Australian sport. You can get it below. ❤️

#TheHowieGames | Pete Murray didn't pick up a guitar for the first time until his early 20s. Before that, he wanted to be an athlete. Rugby union and running were his loves.

These days Pete is one of Australia’s most loved artists. When it's all said and done, Pete plays the guitar, sings, drives a kombi and surfs! What else is there in life!

Check out Pete’s banging new tune "Hold Me Steady" and his EP 'The Night'.

Enjoy the story of a man who figured out what he wanted out of life and has set about achieving just that. ❤️

"I said to the boys I don't want to die here"

#TheHowieGames | From a kid growing up playing all sorts of sport, to a near-death experience in Afghanistan whilst serving his country, to Paralympic glory, Curtis McGrath is one seriously impressive customer.

In this episode, Curtis lifts the veil on what life is like in the modern Australian army. What training involves, how deployment works and what life was like on the ground in Afghanistan for foreign troops.

This is a humble man talking about mateship and courage, fear and pain, the spectre of death and the hope of life, and the benefits of never giving in…no matter how dire the situation may seem.

Curtis has a new book out called Blood, Sweat and Steel. It's phenomenal. You can pre-order now through Booktopia. - https://www.booktopia.com.au/blood-sweat-and-steel-curtis-mcgrath/book/9780733340789.html?source=pla&gclid=CjwKCAjwoP6LBhBlEiwAvCcthHSHS37d0fWAM-IwZzqSysUxfqm1owEhRIszEWxdGCmfB4DGRgkGJxoCp-YQAvD_BwE
